Bottleneck-Slide Guitar book/ 3 - CD set

This book is not for beginners. It provides one page or so of real basic instruction then moves immediately into sample songs. The CD's coverage of the book material is also sparse and adds little additional instruction. The author apparently expects you to be pick up the basics fairly easily. Each song is played through at full speed and there is very little explanation of difficult sections. For example, the second song uses a C7 chord played on 4 strings. There is no explanation of how to play a four note chord when you have a slide on one finger. Using your thumb is an option, but requires a major stretch that is difficult even for someone like me with large hands. If you can play a little slide and want to try a few songs in different tunings this book might be useful, otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

Typical easy going Fred Sokolow instruction book. I wish now I had bought the one with the DVD's but that didn't stop me enjoying it.
