Ramos
Welp, I was delighted to spend some quality time with one of my favorite bad guys, BUT this guy wasn't the Ramos I have come to know and love. It bothered me to see him kind of bumbling and stumbling around. It's a good thing he is more capable in the regular Shelby books, or I sincerely doubt Manetto would keep him around......especially not as his second in command. While I would love to see some more Ramos books, I just hope if there are any more, they are more like the Ramos we've gotten to know in the other books.

Whilst this book was good, it wasn't quite what I expected from Ramos' story
It was a bit disappointing to read because it felt flat. Yes I wanted him to have a love interest but Sloane to me wasn't a good fit for him. He was too soft and accommodating with her for the hit man he is. It was a 3 star for me. I love him with Shelby and Uncle Joey especially Shelby who brings out the real man that he is.

Oh Ramos!
This is between Shelby's adventures. I love how Colleen Helme has built this world of adventure, action, love, and family. Family is not always blood, but those you would take a bullet for. We finally get to hear more about Ramos' past. We get to meet Sloan, a badass agent. She helped Ramos out, and asks for his help. My heart goes out to Ramos when finds out the truth about his father. Ahhh I have said enough. Just grab this book while you have all the Shelby Nichols adventures!

Incompetence takes center stage
Review of Kindle editionDevil in a Black SuitPublication date: February 27, 2018Publisher: Manetto BooksLanguage: EnglishASIN: B078YGWCTF257 pagesPart one is incompetence piled on top of incompetence. Examples: (1) Carlos the criminal weapons buyer made no arrangements to transport the weapons after purchase. (2) Ramos' grand backup/emergency plan is a remotely detonated bomb hidden among the weapons? A fine plan to keep Stinger antiaircraft weapons away from drug cartels and terrorists but not much of a self defense plan. Protecting the weapons is Sloan's responsibility not Ramos'. How about Ramos having some of his and Manetto's men hidden in the wings for contingencies including rescue ops. He knows that Carlos wants to kill him. I guess thinking of something along those lines would be too much of a strain for Ramos and Manetto. (3) Despite shoulder fired antiaircraft missiles being among the weapons, Sloan brings an inadequate team to protect them. Not enough bodies or tech to protect something that important. No drones. No surveillance or chase aircraft. No remote kill switch on the truck to prevent the criminals from driving away with the weapons. No wires to keep offsite surveillance, backup and chase teams informed about what is happening. In fact no surveillance, backup or chase teams at all. (4) Why did Ramos and Sloan chase the truck alone? It would have taken no time at all for one or two of Sloan's team to join them. There is plenty more but this is a review, not a book report. After part I, I had little enthusiasm for the rest of the book. What little I had disappeared when I read this near the beginning of part 2: "Maybe someday she’d realize that, of all the mob-bosses, Manetto was probably one of the better ones to work for. At least Manetto wasn’t as ruthless as most. And he didn’t kill a lot of people." That Manetto is a saint isn't he? Along with Saint Ramos the hitman this was just too much for me. Sleazy, incompetent organized crime bosses and criminals are not sympathetic protagonists for me.

Wonderful Ramos is the center of this one.
Oh this one gets really scary. But Colleen Helme comes up with marvelous twists and turns, and there are books that follow. Ramos is so close to being a super hero, it is his humanity that makes his feats so very awesome. And his six foot four rock solid muscular body, with moves like a cat. And his Harley. He is the proverbial chick magnet. Who gets himself in and out of danger as part of his life. Nice background information on Ramos. And great characters development in the story arc.

good but…….
I love the Shelby Nichols story line and I love hearing about Ramos but the narrator sounded like a robot. Which made it really hard to follow along. Other then that, loved the book! Keep writing amazing books!

A great adventure.
Even though this is a Shelby Nichols adventure, Shelby rarely makes an appearance. The star of the book is Ramos, the right hand and hitman to a mob boss. Ramos meets up with U.S. Agent Sloan, a blast from his past, he learns some information about his long lost father, gets abducted and taken to Mexico for a bounty on his head there. He leaves Mexico with a bang, and winds up in Cuba looking for more information about his father.Of course with this being Ramos, all doesn't go according to plan there either.I originally read this story in a combined novel for Christmas. Colleen has made many changes to the story, added more information from Ramos past, and added a boatload of new stuff making for a first class adventure story that had me looking forward to the next predicament he would be facing. This is a true stand alone story, and a thrilling roller coaster ride for Ramos and Special Agent Sloan.

Loved the focus on Ramos. More like this please!
At last! Ramos gets his very own book! Now if only he could get his very own movie too, so I could admire him in the flesh.... Sorry, slight daydream there!Anyway, the book! As always with this series of books, this is a well-written book and a good read. It's quite fun seeing events that have happened in other Shelby books, but this time from Ramos's POV, and with the surrounding adventures (or should I call it mischief?!) he's been up to as well. It's also nice to see the human side to him that can sometimes be missing in the other books (except when it's just him and Shelby), and to see him even want to explore his own roots too. I won't say how that turns out (spoilers!) except to say that, as usual, nothing goes quite as smoothly as it should! All in all, an excellent read for fans of Ramos (and who isn't!), and I hope we get more books like it in future.

A must read for us fans of Shelby Nichols adventures. This brilliant story gives us a bit of insight into the origins of Ramos. Ramos helps an old flame with explosive and life threatening consequences. Loved it.

Highly recommended
A definite must for fans of Shelby Nichols, an insight into Ramos's background and character. Lovely portrait of a hard man with a soft centre. As I've read all the Shelby books and become rather too fond of our 'hitman', I can't comment on the book as a stand-alone, but the editing is something that really impresses me, tight and accurate. Do hope he finds out more about his mother's family in future.I can confidently recommend Devil as an entertaining read, and an unmissable one for Shelby' followers.
