Made it work for me and happy with it
The instructions are adequate, but watching the installation video on YT from Donald Porta helped more...and he didn't even have all the parts. Floaterhoist should make an equally detailed video as theirs is about a minute long and just glazes over the basics.Although assembly is easy with only 4 nuts and bolts, I can see how installing can be difficult and their method of a helper holding it up with the rod seems potentially awkward. It's not heavy and can be held up with one hand while drilling the screws, as Donald does in the video, but I imagine that could also be awkward.I didn't have anyone to help, so I used drywall supports to clamp it in place against the ceiling while I put the screws in. Plus my garage ceiling isn't finished so I could see where the joists are to drill into. So installation was pretty easy for me. I spent more time trying to decide which way to put it. Your mileage may vary.My garage has an 8 foot ceiling and I'm 6'2". Maybe it depends on the bike, but without taking the front wheel off and turning the handlebars on mine it hung down about 24" from the ceiling; too low for my head to clear. I was already taking the wheel off to store the bike, so that's not a big deal for me. And, as the instructions advised, I also wrapped the sling twice around the frame to make them shorter. Now the bike can be pulled closer to the ceiling and the lowest part is the pedal at 19", giving me about 5" of headroom to freely walk under. I don't usually jump up and down in my garage, so that's plenty of space for me. If you're shorter than 6', and/or depending on your bike, then an 8' ceiling might not pose the same problem.Overall it's fairly easy to use and works well. While the material and build quality are good it does seem a little overpriced, but I figure I paid extra for the unique horizontal design that keeps my bike safely out of the way and frees up the floor. Taking my issues into consideration, I still highly recommend it.

A Great Way to Store Your Bicycle
An awesome way to store your bicycle. It fits horizontally up against the ceiling so you don't bang your head on the bike when walking through your storage area. The rope/3-pulley system enables you to effortlessly raise and lower your bike. The ropes lock in place to keep your bike up against the ceiling. Trickiest part of the installation is locating studs to bolt the 3 contact points of the rack to the ceiling. Securing it to the studs in the ceiling is absolutely essential to support the weight of your bike. The installation instructions provide excellent diagrams for every stud scenario. Only one thing that I would rate as a negative. One of the bolts for assembling the frame was too short. Easy fix, I just used another bolt. I highly recommend the Floater Hoist, well engineered, great design and excellent installation instructions.

You won't regret it.
I waited months before getting this because it was pretty pricey! But I'm glad I did! It's awesome it's super easy. I was worried it would be heavy to pull up and down It's so light and you start the bike right on the floor so there's no lifting at all. The pully runs smoothly. I love it it looks great gives me more space. I can't say enough just do it It cost a lot to absolutely love it!

Make use of that vertical space
Well designed product that let my bike join my skybox and hammocks on the ceiling making use of some free vertical space.Key feature is hanging the bike by its side to lower its profile and impact on head space. The pulley system makes lifting reasonable. Mounting brackets can slide along the support arms to accommodate various joist configurations. Pulleys can slide to work with various bikes as well. Hanging straps prevent scratching fancy bikes at the attachment points. Like I said this was well thought out.Excellent instructions - I was able to put this up solo and test within a couple hours. I was worried that my install window was smaller than recommended but it all worked out in the end. Kit even came with a roll of masking tape to help visually layout your joists. Also a metal rod to help hold the mount against the ceiling as you plan the install. Loved the built-in rod storage space inside a support arm after I was done.I am a little skeptical of the rope lockout that prevents the bike from descending but time will tell if it fails. Kids play in the garage all the time so this is mission critical. During install, I could tell that the design erred on having the ropes lock out rather than release. 3 weeks later, can attest that the lockouts work without fail. Can add an eye screw on a wall somewhere and tie it off for added security.Overall I'm super happy and can't wait to show off this fun little project to the wife and kiddos! Now I just wish we had more ceiling space...
