Safe $ from the dealership
Get full control of my parents lexus, were able to program a key for parents, pretty much the cost of this + a virgin key from ebay (<$100) compared to $500+ from the dealership, the other advantage, now have full control of diagnostics and vehicle functions! Very complicated instructions and I believe I had to follow one of the other reviews to get it to work (thank you). I did have to snap the connector to remove it as there was no way to get it to release from the obd port (no issues with functionality)

The Mini VCI cable and Techstream software works but a VIRUS is present
It is difficult to install, but it does work on both a Windows 7 and a Windows 10 64bit computer. After I installed this, and after reading another review, I can confirm a potential virus is present in the VCI driver by XHorse Electronics. This potential virus has been around for more than 10 years, and I do not see an explanation why it is there. The virus is in the two files mentioned here. After you install, you can delete these files, and Techstream works okay without them.Virus file 1: Installation folder: Mini VCI Driver for TOYOTA.msi (this is an installation program) that installs the XHorse driver and software.Virus file 2: MINI VCI WIN10\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS). The file is called FirmwareUpdateTool.exe.INSTALLATION STEPS:1) Install the driver first. The easiest way is to excute the msi file. The problem is, this file contains a potential virus. If you wish to avoid executing the msi file, that automatically installs the XHorse driver for you, you can try this workaround. Note: the downloaded installation version has these files. Copy the “XHorse Electronics” folder and subfolders to C:\Program Files (x86) (on Windows 10) or C:\Program Files (on other windows computers). After copying the files, delete the file called FirmwareUpdateTool.exe in the destination folder. This file contains the virus. Execute the mvci-64.reg file, which adds entries the the registry. If you do not have a Windows 10 computer, you may need to first modify this text file before executing it, changing “Program Files (x86)” to “Program Files”. When you insert the cable into the USB port, you may need to help it find the driver in the destination folder (not sure). The other way to do this, is to disable your virus software, and execute the msi file. After that, you can delete the file mentioned in this paragraph.2) Intall the Techstream software. On the CD, there are two folders. You can also download the installation files from the web using a link provided by the seller. I installed version V15.00.028. Note: I could not view the readme file in the folder for version .028, but if you contact the seller, they can send you a download link in an email (tell them your computer version). The video on the CD is in Japanese so I did not find it useful. There is a password in the readme file for Version .022, but I could not make it work in either version. It is okay, because you don't need it if you click on the Techstream Shortcut 32 icon (or 64).3) Note: I installed this on a Windows 7 PC and also on a Windows 10 64bit computer.4) The Techstream software installs to C:\Program Files\Toyota Dianostics\Techstream (and Bin). This location may be different on Windows 10 (ie. C:\Program Files (x86)).5) After installing, they say to rename the "Techstream" icon to "Techstream setting". Execute this Icon once, to make a few general settings such as connector to use, country, and language. After doing this, exit Techstream. You may not need to execute this icon anymore. If you do, it will ask for a registration password which you do not have, but you do not need it... read on.6) I copied the Techstream Patch 32 bit (shortcut icon) to my desktop. It executes Techstream passing it a few parameters. This is what you execute each time you wish to execute Techstream. No password is required. If you see a registration screen, just cancel (you may be in the wrong version of Techstream. Each time you wish to execute Techstream, click on "Techstream Patch 32bit (or 64bit).7) Connect the VCI cable to the car's ODB2 connector and your computer. Execute the MVCI software once to ensure the cable attaches okay.8) Execute Techstream Patch 32bit (or 64bit) shortcut icon to open up Techstream. Select the type of car, and then connect. If you see a screen with a list of system modules in yellow (my first image), you are in and it is displaying the systems in your car. To view trouble codes, select one of the systems like "ABS/VCS/TRAC" (it will change to blue), and then click Next to see the codes. You can also run tests. The TIS function will not work because it will connect to the web where you need to provide a user log-on off your own. Also, I noticed the version I have does not connect to the online, so I just select "Offline Mode". You can still get trouble codes and test individual systems. Each system you open, will open up a new tab. You can close them by clicking the "Close" button. If you open a few, the "Select System" tab will go out of site (it is the left most tab).Good luck.

Works, but not immediately
Bought this to pull abs codes for my 99 camry; more on that later. It shipped with the mini vci and a software cd containing two folders, one for software version 13.00 and one for version 15.00.028. I have a toughbook with win 7 32 bit. I tried the version 13 first and even though the installation video on the cd was of little help, I was able to install it and use the included key. But, when trying to set a vehicle it would only display "Program too large for memory" in a cmd prompt window and bail out. At that point I uninstalled it and installed from the version 15 folder. Again there was an install video but it was even less help this time. This is what I did to get it installed:Install the "legit" version of techstream- v15.00.026Install the driver for the mini vciInstall the "modified" version upgrade to v15.00.28Open techstream and change the adapter from techstream to xhorseClose techstreamOpen the 32 bit patch file (shortcut) in the version 15 directory.I had to use the last step above in order to get the software to work. If you open techstream directly, it prompts for a registration key. Using the patch file initiates a connection to the vehicle ( mini vci plugged into car and laptop and key on engine off ) and opens techstream in a back-door fashion. My camry's abs is too old/unsophisticated for techstream to pull codes but I was able to test the evap and egr vsv's for which have some codes.I would have given 5 stars but the included install info is very sparse and not totally correct. Also be prepared to pry it off the obdII connector if you don't break the middle tab out first.

DO NOT BUY
This product is crap, I tried to install this onto my laptop and it wouldn’t take the driver for the cable. Searched online couldn’t find the driver, it is using a windows 32 bit operating system and does not work with new pc’s. Do not buy unless you have an old system. I spent 16 hours trying to make this thing work. To the point of making a virtual pc with windows 7 32 bit on it, still no results
