Exceptionally informative, practical and beautifully presented
The book is so much more than a guide. It is beautifully presented, precise, concise but not dry or a directory equivalent . The narrative is descriptive transporting you to locations before you even consider running the trail. The book design is well thought out enabling you to pocket a copy of the section on your chosen adventure, whilst being a coffee table display. The author's attention to detail is second to none.I would liken the author's work to a comprehensive software package with free service and frequent updates on social media.I am able to relate and reference my own ability through author's well documented outings and adventures. Full marks for the user perspective which addresses a spectrum of needs. The author demonstrates, by doing, there are no boundaries to explore and enjoy the stunning country either by yourself or accompanied by friends, family or children. Whatever the user's current limitations might be the author has thoughtful suggestions and directions as to what might work for you.He addresses the "Why" before the question even arises. The aspects of terrain, efficiency, complexity are covered. The author draws from the extensive personal experience and personal development of the tools to make experience "fast" and enjoyable for all.

Fabulous book for anyone who enjoys running/ jogging and walking outdoors.
I bought this book for my Mum (who is a keen walker) after she noticed it on my coffee table ( she's not the only one to begin leafing through it as soon as it was spied!).As with all the Pesda guide books, it is of great quality thoroughly researched, filled with beautiful and inspiring pictures. It is well thought out, easy to use and includes information/advice on gear and safety. There are different length runs (or walks!), some can be combined. As well as maps and detailed descriptions of the routes, the author has included information about the areas. It's also great that the author has incorporated his humour into the guide! My Mum has already completed one run (walk) from the book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Next on her list is the Isle of Wight section. I'm also looking forward to working through the routes soon.

A fantastic variety of trail running routes in a beautiful part of the world!
So many trail running routes to choose from in this really informative guide. Even if you're already a dab hand at plotting your own trail running routes it's great to head out on a pre-planned route knowing that it's been tried and tested. Mark Rainsley has provided an exceptional range of different routes for all abilities in some great locations. There are even recommendations for coffee and cake stops which is clearly essential for any serious trail runner!!

Brilliant, well-researched guide
The attention to detail in this book is amazing - maps and elevation profiles for every route - and notes on what you’ll encounter along the way. Interesting tidbits of local history too. It’s clear that this is written for trail runners, by a trail runner. A really lovely book. A must-read for anyone who enjoys exploring the UK’s trails!
