Excellent product
Has side loading bobbin with superior thread control compared to top loading. Great machine for household use and works on denim.

Finally! A sewing that makes me not miss my Featherweight!
First - I love the look of this machine! It isn't clunky looking like most machines nowadays. It has a sleeker look. IT is actually a "mostly" black metal outer body. FINALLY! So sick of the plastic that scratches if you even look at it wrong! IT is QUIET! I tried a couple of machines before I found this one and they are so loud, and make a sort of galloping sound that I could do without. They were hard to thread, or too loud, or sewed too slowly, or the stitches didn't look pretty, or were too complicated to want to mess with, or too persnickity, etc, etc, etc. I was about to give up in my sewing altogether ------- then I found this!!!! OMG - I keep going into the study just to look at it and make sure it isn't just a dream. Yep, it's still there, and it's real. The price is so reasonable and it comes with lots of extras, including some really cute decals that I used to decorate mine with. Such a fun and thoughtful idea! Only one thing - I wish the light were less blueish tones, and more incandescent like the Featherweight, but I can live with it. I don't write many reviews, but I am so excited about finding this machine, and I thought maybe some other people might be interested to know what they are in for with this machine. BTW, I am not a great seamstress by any means, I mostly do basic sewing, and lots of craft sewing. I don't need 300 stitch patterns as I mostly do straight stitching. All I know is my stitches look great - nice and smooth, and realiable. Just so happy! Don't ask me if I want to marry it, because if I weren't so happily married I might consider it!

Troubleshooting all Issues.. and it does not fix it.
Had this machine for over a year. After the first 2 weeks it started running horribly. I cant tell you how many times I've taken it apart, oiled it, changed my threads, changed the bobbins and needles, messed with the bobbin adjustment, cleaned it... it still does not work properly. I totally regret buying it all together. This is supposed to be a heavy duty machine.. and the only thing heavy duty about it is my regret. UPDATE 3/22 - 16 months and I broke down and took it to a repair guy. He did a full work up. I paid the money, brought it home and it's worse than before. The reverse button ... ya.. it didnt like that. The clunking and metal on metal noise... and then the looping of the bobbin thread... seizing up the machine. I'm so disgusted by this machine...and I've severe anxiety about going out and finding another. I'm tired of dealing with junk. THIS Machine IS junk!!!! I have a pretty successful craft business....and I need to sew.. OFTEN. I cannot do it with this...and I've lost so much money with all the down time. AGAIN.. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!

Working hard since May 3rd, and rocking!
I have to say I really like the Janome! I have been using it pretty steadily since May 3, making masks and other apparel and it's a workhorse. I like now much it's a no-nonsense machine. There's little to no digital interation, and everything's analog which makes it easier to manage when it gets fussy. Of all the threaders I have seen on machines, I like this one the best, it doesn't seem to get as clogged or stuck when in operation. However, like all machines there's little drawbacks - one is getting the bobbin wound on this baby. To disengage the belt to get the machine to start winding the bobbin was a small fiasco! I guess you have to be very careful how tightly you turn it to disengage, as on the very first day I got stuck with a jammed machine unable to wind a bobbin or sew from turning it too far. Multiple cussing and viewing of youtube videos later, I was able to manually fix the machine and it's been faithful since (side note - so grateful it was all parts and no electronics!). It's also fussy about the tail length of thread, so be sure to give it a little longer thread than you might, otherwise it may jam on you. However, it goes through multiple layers like nothing I've ever experienced - well worth it!

hates reverse
basic machine. same base as always. Hates reverse, left handed bobbin loading, kinda noisy. it works. it stays put on the bench. stitch size is... (as always) limited, mostly small., large is really just medium. but for 350 bucks...you aren't going to do better.

Value for money is amazing!
Value for money is exceptional. It's great for sewing and quilting. I'd suggest for a beginner to intermediate sewer.

Sturdy mechanical sewer
I purchased this machine as used on prime day, so I paid a total of $100 less than if I had purchased the new one. It did not come in its original packaging and the person who returned it apparently decided to keep the presser feet, bobbin case, bobbins and all the accessories, so I was unable to test it out until I replaced some parts. Also the spool pins were broken off and the shuttle was not seated properly so that the pin for the bobbin case wobbled around. (I think I saw a video of someone complaining about that, but all it needed was to be placed back in properly. It comes out to clear thread jams and for cleaning.) When my $20 worth of replacement parts arrived, I adjusted the shuttle, installed the new spool pins, wound a bobbin and tested it out. This is a sturdy machine and I love the feel of control that I get sewing with a mechanical machine. The computerized models do wonderful things, but I always feel like they try to do too much for me and I am much more efficient doing it myself. The tension adjusts easily and the stitches lay flat and straight. The manual was available to download online, so I have that now for reference if I need it. I am using this as a second machine to have something with zigzag that will do button holes, as the other machine is straight stitch only. But it could easily be the go to. I owned a Juki industrial machine in the past, made by Janome, and it was also a very good machine. Also, just as a side, I am fond of the old fashioned look of the black metal case. I am happy with my purchase.

I’ve done my research on a lot of sewing machines and it was my first option. When I received it, it had a USA plug. Bought about 2 presser foot. Still didn’t work. Called janome they said its an American sewing machine and they couldn’t help me. Then I called Amazon and there was a huge language barrier between me and THE PERSON THAT WAS MEANT TO HELP ME defeating the whole point of customer service. My time has been fully wasted and don’t waste yours by buying this sewing machine.

I ordered this machine listed as "Used - as good as new" and it indeed seemed like that when I opened the package but I was surprised to discover it had a US plug🤷🏻♀️ Thanks to an adapter I could plug it in, which resulted in blowing the apartment fuse and the machine running at about 60km/h speed with even the slightest push of the pedal. Unusable. I do not understand why a machine rated for US grid voltage was sold to me in the EU. Thank you, Amazon, for facilitating a return.

I was able to get a refund but the machine has a US plug. Used an adaptor but the machine started smoking as soon as it was used.

This is a good Machine, I have so far used it on light fabrics, not as fast as I thought it would be but it us not too slow either. It feels strong, easy to figure out for settings, u like the needle threading feature. I love ❤️ it thus far.
