Small latch-hook rug
This PlayMonster LATCHKITS Pineapple Crafts, Multi comes with the canvas grid, yarn, latch hook, and instructions. I love that the canvas grid already has finished edges, since most kits don't come with finishing material. This small size makes the rug perfect for beginners, since it is a much shorter project. It is still large enough to take several hours and provide plenty of entertainment. I find it very meditative. The pre-printed colors on the canvas grid are easy to read. There's even plenty of contrast between the pinks. My latch hook did come with a small flaw in the plastic, right where I rest my finger. Luckily, I had a second latch hook that I could use instead.I think this is a very nice craft kit, and the resulting rug is cute. It would make a good gift.

Fun Craft Kids
It took a little bit for my 8 year old to get the hang of the directions but once she did it turned out to be a lot of fun. It took her about 1-2 hours of diligent work to complete. It was a fun screen free independent activity for her.

Fun and easy!
I have never done a latch hook project, but I have been bored and I LOVE pineapples so I thought I'd give this a try. It's so fun! I like arts and crafts but have zero skill when it comes to things like knitting and crochet, so I was a little nervous about this, but it's super easy. I will confess that the directions didn't really work for me (they're not bad, but I learn best by watching) so I watched a few quick YouTube videos and was able to figure it out from them. It's actually really easy...I just don't do well with implements more complex than a needleš. The colors are bright and colorful, it's easy to follow the pattern, and there is plenty of yarn to complete the project (I messed up on a couple and had to undo them, causing them to fuzz up a bit, but there was plenty of extra to allow for that so I didn't have to use the frizzy ones). The result is a lively, cute wall-hanging (it even has two hooks on the "frame", which is a finished, blue, canvas-type material around the edges). IMO it's too small to be a rug unless it's for a little one or a doll house, but I like it on the wall in my office.I have a couple of nieces who are 11 and 9 years old, and they love crafts. I think I'll pick up a couple of these for them for the holidays because I think they'll really enjoy them, and they're both old enough to be able to complete the project. I would recommend this.

A Craft That Allows a Kid to Be Independent and Successful
When I was a kid, I can remember being IN LOVE with hook/latch kits. I must have made 2 dozen pieces. It was something I could do myself. As I got older, I graduated to cross stitch and other more demanding hobbies. My daughter very much wants to craft, but she has some fine motor challenges at this point, so embroidery and cross stitch has been frustrating. She can do it, but I have to constantly untangle knots or tie knots or thread needles. This? This is something she can do herself!!It's such a blast from the past, seeing a kit like this. You get your hook, your printed mesh backing, and those funky and wonderful wheels of yarn bits. You get instructions which are both visual and written, so anyone should be able to follow them with ease.My girl is having a fun. This is an easy craft that allows a kid to be independent and successful. I love it!

Great quiet time activity
I had these as a child, but could never figure out how to use the latch. Upon receiving this, I still couldnāt figure it out, so I watched an online video and cannot believe how easy it was.I got this for my son in hopes of finding a quiet time activity he loves to get away from electronics. He enjoyed the first row, but it became too difficult for his dexterity after the first row as the yarn would become entangled. I think also he realized how time consuming this was going to be to get a finished product. I think heās just too young!?!Overall, I love this. Itās quiet, and Iām able to focus on this and be away from other stresses. One thing that kind of annoys me is the symmetry of the colors. I make sure that itās even on both sides of the row, even though the color on the pattern does not match.I would buy again or gift.Great past time.

Great craft for young girls!
I got this for my daughter-in-law, and the following is her review:I have seven and ten-year-olds who love to do crafts, and I am always looking for new things for them. These are really cute and very simple to do. The kit is an approximately 11x11 inch square of wide mesh with the picture printed on it. It comes with a nifty tool that you weave through the mesh, which pulls the yarn through to tie knots around it. The finished product is a fluffy "rug" with two loops at the top to allow them to hang it on their wall. The best part about this is that they can do it independently. The instructions are clear and easy to follow with pictures, and the yarn comes precut in 2-inch lengths (thank goodness!). The yarn comes prepackaged in 5 rolls with various colors in each roll, so you do not have to get all the yarn out at once. This seems like a quality product, from the nice round handle on the tool to the binding around the outside of the rug. My only complaint is that the box is oversized- the craft could easily fit in a box half this size. Great gift for crafty girls.
