It is very well built of heavy wood and goes together easily. The only thing I did not like about it was having to put screws under the center shelf. That is absolutely unnecessary. The shelf is held in on the sides by the cabinet and in front by the trim. Besides that, there were no predrilled holes and that shelf is very sturdy wood and would not take a screw easily. Overall, I really like it. One suggestion though. If you are going to paint or stain the bookshelf, do it BEFORE ASSEMBLY. It will save you a lot of grief.

I had been crawling yard sales and antique shops for months looking for a small bookcase for my sitting room and eventually decided to look for a new one online since nothing suitable was turning up. While this was a little more money than I was intending to spend, it's just about perfect for my needs. The quality is superb (you really do get what you paid for) and the bookcase is sturdy and looks great in my space. Assembly was a bit fiddly but not terribly difficult. I'm happy I spent more money on a quality product instead of settling for a veneer + particleboard solution. This feels like it will last for a long time and actually looks much more expensive that it was.

What a great purchase! Easy to put together, solid workmanship and looks more expensive than it was. It took me 30 minutes to stain it with a cherry finish to match my cabinets and I could not be more pleased.
