The Vacation: An utterly gripping thriller packed with suspense

I'm not normally a fan of "back and forth" storytelling but this book was AMAZING. Very well written and had me on my toes. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a good, suspenseful read!

The Vacation has enough essential characters that I initially felt I would become confused—I was wrong. The way Chouinard weaves their stories together removed all fear of confusion. She provided an easy-to-read and compelling saga of three families brought together with unintended consequences.Every scene brings a twist or reversal to the story. Turmoil abounds in the relationships of the six primary characters; there is no single protagonist. While six may seem unmanageable, Chouinard pulls it off in a manner I found successful and easy for a reader to comprehend. Slowly and almost unbeknownst to me, I developed a strong affection for three of the characters and disgust for the other three.Solving the mystery challenged me unsuccessfully until late in the story when Chouinard’s revelations took me by surprise.The Vacation was the first time I read her work—it won’t be the last.

Good plot. Good writing.

All stars. Well written and I lived that I didn’t immediately know who did it. Kept me guessing and I read the entire book in 2 afternoons. Must read!!!

I read this book while I was on a vacation, missed an entire day of lounging and swimming because it was SO good I had to stay in a quiet place to read. Truly an amazing book, the twist and turns the whole way, and you never see the end coming. It is a completely captivating and nail biting journey!! Must read!!

The book held my interest enough that I finished it. I found the characters to be unbelievable. That being said, it's an easy read .

There were plenty of suspects in this murder mystery. The characters are mostly quite unlikable and have some of the worst character traits, but the loaded reveal was unexpected!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it good read. I thought it was well.researched and the characters believable a typical family group holiday where there is always tensions between family members despite the friendships. A really good story with an unexpected ending I can recommend it to others.

Overall a good read but there were some gaps as some reactions were unrealistic. There were loose ends that remained which were not explained too. Good basic plot though

Good book based on what happened in Portugal no doubt. Ery different ending which made me wonder . Also shows how vindictive and thoughtless the media Are.

Well I didn’t see that ending coming!! Brilliant and truly captivating novel had me on the edge for the few days it took me to finish the book once I’d started it I needed to know!!

Family secrets, betrayal, heartache and jealously are packed into this dark story. Full of strong characters, against a brilliant backdrop of paradise, it's a book that you won't forget reading. Brilliant.
