Best of digital and SLR
I love this camera. I came up with Nikon film SLRs including the FM2 that this is based upon so I find the Zfc very intuitive to handle. It's better than my D7000. The controls on the top deck are great--no menu-diving for basic adjustments! The fold-out display itself is well organized and convenient especially since it will flip around and fold flat against the camera. I use the touchscreen all the time. The viewfinder is bright and not too busy. Picture quality is excellent shooting JPGs at the FINE level. I like the "Silent" setting--good for quiet, indoor events. I bought an SB-700 speedlight--no complaints there. The Zfc will even accept my legacy SB-25 on manual. Autofocus is fantastic, metering great. I use some of the creative filter settings. Snapbridge works well with my Android phone. Very easy to review and share images in the moment with onboard wifi & Bluetooth.I'm aware that the full-frame Nikon Zf is favored by many for its sensor size and marginally higher-quality images. If I want to approximate that with the Zfc though, I can shoot RAW up to about 20 MB/shot. I don't use the camera for video at all--I'm a stills guy who prefers shooting news events and features. The Zfc does feel light and smaller by comparison with the Zf. That's not necessarily a drawback as I believe the quality is fine, although I did add a Smallrig grip that matches the camera perfectly. If you want to want to do street photography without spending a ton of money, get the Nikkor 28mm 2.8 prime or one of the even more diminutive, relatively fast lenses and blast away.

Fun!
Edit: I used AI to generate some ideas on settings, and wanted to add some cool new pictures I was able to snap up! Original review below.Likes: there’s so much to learn!Get back to basics. Shutter, Aperture, ISO, F-Stops, lighting, etc. or go Auto and Point and shoot.Dislikes: there’s so much to customize!Want Auto ISO? It’s in a menu. Is it important to learn? Ya! Want to make a shortcut? You can! Want to change how it focuses? You can too.Other things:Expensive but works well. The camera/webcam function is good. Sturdy build quality and doesnt need to be the fanciest leather or metals.Out of the box:You might just need to click the button on the left of the eyehole. It’ll swap through a couple of settings: screen, swap between the screen to your lookout eyehole, etc. The rest you can fool around with.

Love it!
I got this for my wife as she’s a Nikon user and I shoot on a Canon 1dx Mark II but I find myself asking to borrow her camera cause of how small and light it is. Very great camera, super lightweight, easy to use, we end up taking this camera around with us most places.

I'm in love!
Because I have arthritis, I wanted a camera that was lighter weight than my old Nikon D7100, and when I saw that this camera had the old-style knobs on top, I jumped at the chance to buy it. I love the easy access to the settings, which I can adjust by feel while keeping my eye on the viewfinder and my subject. I just came back from 7 days in Morro Bay, CA to photography the local wildlife and this camera handled it all very well. It does have a bit of a problem focusing at night, but don't they all? I am most accustomed to using the viewfinder, rather than the large display, so I ended up turning off the display because my nose kept hitting it and activating the touch controls, screwing up my shot. However, it's super easy to switch it back on when needed. I shot under sunny skies and cloudy, rainy days. I shot action, closeup, and distance shots of wildlife (see photos). I'm really impressed with this camera and, because it's so lightweight, it's going to be my constant companion from now on.

The Nikon street camera that GenX needed.
I grew up learning photography on cameras that had knobs and lens rings to control the exposure. When digital cameras came out they just didn't feel right with their buttons and rotary wheels. There is something about twisting a knob to set the shutter speed that just feels right. I love being able to set up the exposure without even turning the camera on. You simply can't under estimate the value of being able to glance at the top of the camera to see where everything is set. This camera is a joy to use.Update.The one must have accessory is a grip like the one from SmallRig. The FM2 (which the Z fc is modeled after) has nothing on the back of the camera so it is easy to grab by the body an pick up. If you try to do that with this camera you will be mashing buttons. With the grip you can pick it up without disturbing the buttons on the back.

So much fun
I'm a long-time Nikon DSLR shooter. Started with D200, then D70, then D610, now D780. These were and are all great cameras. And with fast and long optics can make great images anywhere. The Z fc was purchased as a walking-around camera. To my pleasant surprise it is much more. After figuring out the myriad options and doing some customization of the iMenu, I can happily say that this camera is a gem. The two kit lenses are sharp, focus is superb, and the nifty utility to upload to a table of phone works perfectly. While this won't replace the D780, it will certainly get a lot of use. Did I mention that the eye focus is amazing? Or the focus tracking. Or that this camera, two lenses, a spare battery, and a travel tripod weigh less than my 80-200 Nikkor? Price is right too. Just buy it.
