Feels heavier than 18lbs. in use, so you're forewarned. Have thus far used it to assist in digging out a mailbox post in very rocky soil and for moving some large boulders when used as a lever. You will get a serious workout when using this to move subsurface rocks, and the finish provides for good bare-handed grip, although gloves are probably a great idea for many applications. The accompanying photos made it look as though the wedge was more pointed that it is, but that's my only quibble.That and the fact that it does not come with a guy to actually do the grunt work, and trust me, this will make you grunt.Imagine it will last several lifetimes with even modest attention to care.Hope I come back as a rich guy in my next few lives as this kind manual labor is hard on a guy.I have no point of reference to accurately evaluate this item, but coming from a neophyte, I imagine you would be hard-pressed to find a better tool of this type.

Well... Item arrived out of plastic with the box torn/ripped open. There was a nice chip out of the wedge too. My guess is someone picked up the box incorrectly, the weight of the bar ripped the box open and the wedge end fell on some steel or other hard surface chipping the blade. Also looked slightly used. In any case it is still a solid piece of metal and is usable to pry stuff with.

I purchased this crowbar to help me remove roots from small weed trees like buckthorn.It arrived very well wrapped and secured - I was impressed with the packaging the Ames Companies used.It is a heavy duty, 18 lb. steel bar.It has been an wonderful tool to get under the tree roots near the trunk, then pry up the trunk and main roots!I highly recommend it!!!

Needed it, got it, love it. Saved $20 in gas with free shipping, so it was a bargain! Tough True Temper steel, breaks stubborn form boards away from concrete in no time! Prys up imbedded rocks like a pro, no bending this bar! Chisel point stays sharp. Basic black color. I'm going to paint mine bright red so it doesn't get lost if left out. You won't be disappointed with this guy!
