Intensity of vibration is either regular or strong noted by the green or red respectively. 1 is the least sensitive and 5 the most. **Q: What are the prongs for? If they are not covered does it produce a shock?** A: The covers make it more comfortable. This collar has no shock feature, only vibration. This collar works on my little dog 16 lbs. **Q: Does it still work if it slides to the side of the neck?** A: Not as well if it’s in the middle where their voice box is. It needs to be a little tighter if it’s sliding around. You can put the rubber prongs on it if you’re worried that it is too sharp.
