A great value reel. Does the job. Clutch is nice and smooth when playing larger fish. I did get alot of wind knots in the braided line futher back on the spool when using lighter lures (below 1g).

This reel is incredible value for money, I've paired this with my Daiwa 1-3kg rod and it's a perfect balance, 11 bearings so very high end for the money.

Purchased this reel and returned the Carbon X II, both 2000 size. Even though the Viper is a bit heavier, it clearly outperforms the more expensive Carbon X II. I had nothing but problems with the other reel and this one is so much better. Better drag control, feels more sturdy and higher quality parts and design. The green colour is the only negative aspect. I will need to test it out on the cold and see how it performs for ice fishing, but it looks promising, especially with the closed design.

Bought a 2000 size reel just to see if Amazon reels were any good. I’ve had this reel for probably 2+ years and have absolutely beat the crap out of it. I’ve taken it deep into Algonquin park and dropped the whole setup out if the canoe so many times and it remains fully functional. Smooth reeling and drag. Looks great too. I don’t ever write reviews but this product actually deserves one. Very sturdy and well priced reel.
