The transfer tool actually transfers the foil to your flat project with the Cricut machine **Q: Can these tips be used to transfer foil by hand, without a machine?** A: Kind of nope. I just tried it out for you because I had scraps. The foil transfers, but it only impressed about 25-35% of each letter or shape. You need very hard, even pressure that only the machine can provide (and doesn't even do very well at that, if you ask me.
