In any case, it came covered and filthy inside the sealed wrapper with dust and adhesive stuck to fiber (probably cardboard fibers) and had to be cleaned with lab grade isopropyl alcohol.Product says 9 pin, but there are 8 as you can see in product picture. That missing pin is "no connection" according to spec, but is important to have normally so that you don't accidentally connect in wrong direction to send ground to 5V+ and destroy both your PC and devices. Don't do that! Should be black wires to black wires (ground to ground) on the male and female header connection.

Item arrived with the USB2.0 end well wrapped in cardboard and tape. But the pins inside were still bent all over the place. As the wrapping wasn't damaged in the same places, I have to assume it was packaged while already looking like this. That was easy enough to bend back into place. However, the pins also had VERY noticeable corrosion all over them. Picture is after bending the pins back, but shows this. There is no easy way to clean that off properly without damaging it. I was able to scrape it a little and it took a few tries to get a connection. Way more effort than I should be putting in on a new part.
