Am I missing something?** A: Low batteries won't leave the water running. The timer needs power to open the valve but the valve will close itself otherwise. However, my timer had a damaged rubber diaphragm and that caused a 1 gallon/minute leak. Leaked silently for more than a week.t. I did have trouble with leaks from the threaded, plastic screw base outlet of this unit to one of my hoses but not with another. If you cross-thread the threaded plastic base this unit is toast, it will always leak so be very careful about installation.
