Excellent book BUT......
This is a very well-researched, informative book. It's full of fantastic tips and tricks to stay healthy and even rewind your body clock. It's comprehensive in that it covers diet, exercise, social-life, mind-body strategies etc and even has a plan at the end for implementing the changes which, I've no doubt, would be good for any human. My only quibble with it is that it promotes a 'plant based' (ie vegan) diet as the only option as a diet. The author backs up her suggestion with research (as she does with everything) but I can't help but feel that she's pushing a way of eating that works for her but wouldn't work for all. It took me two minutes to Google NCBI and BMJ articles which also say that evidence shows fish (omega 3s),seafood, liver, eggs etc to be anti-aging. I feel that the author's case for a vegan diet is more opinion than absolute fact. No-one would argue that fruits and vegetables are the backbone to a healthy, anti-aging diet but to suggest veganism is the only way to eat for anti-aging is misleading. Also, on a personal (and obviously anecdotal) note, I find a vegan diet very hard on my digestive system. Trying to get protein from beans and legumes is a no-no for my body. I fell so much better when I get my protein from fish, meat and eggs.
