So happy
I’d had my old one for about 8 years, and it stood up under heavy use! I needed another one, so I was so glad they still sell them. I also bought the one that lights up for my kiddo. He loves it!

Requires Superhuman Strength to Sharpen
I bought this for the purpose of sharpening colored pencils for doing my favorite logic puzzles, nonograms. However, this sharpener has taken all the fun out of doing my puzzles. First, this sharpener does not sit firmly in place. It is prone to spinning around on the tabletop - or if I lose my grip on the pencil, it sits there spinning the pencil round and round until I'm brave enough to try grabbing it again, despite the heat of the friction. Second, the motor turns on, as expected, with a small amount of force pushing the pencil in; however, it takes significantly more effort to push the pencil down far enough that it will actually start sharpening. For me, having dexterity issues and weak hand strength, it zaps all my strength to a) push the pencil down hard enough to sharpen while b) gripping the pencil tightly enough to keep it from spinning out of control and c) leaning the pencil to and fro to find an angle at which it will hit the blades. After sharpening a single colored pencil, my fingers are twitching so much I can't continue coloring. My final problem (at least of this review) is that the receptacle for the shavings is not a fully surrounded bin. It does not have a back wall, thus it does not actually hold the shavings when you pull it out. You MUST hold the pencil sharpener over the trash can as you open it. And between the tiny size of the receptacle and the frequency with which my pencil tips have broken off in the blade, I've had to open it a LOT.When I first got this sharpener, I thought I could write a forgiving review, but now that I've been using it for several months, it's just more trouble than it's worth. I think I'm going to go order a normal, "expensive" sharpener.
