Greenworks ST40B410 Cordless String, 12" Trimmer (4.0Ah), Green & Black

The media could not be loaded. I got this for my husband because I'm tired of hearing him complain and about gas for our old weedeater. Plus he would pull and pull the cord and cause blisters on his fingers from it being hard to start. Well, here ya go! We live in the country so what you're seeing in my video is grass at the end of our cabin that tends to grow quickly. This trimmer works great at that! My only issue is that the string doesn't bump to feed out. You're supposed to just pull the trigger three times really fast and that's what feeds the string. Unfortunately we still haven't aced that area yet but we're working on it. It becomes frustrating if you end up having to take that part out to loosen the string or feed it back through the holes. We're not giving up on it because it DOES feed string out that way but it's a little hard to maneuver because you have to hold in the safety button at the same time. It weighs (with battery) about the same as our small gas trimmer but is a lot cleaner and doesn't put off fumes so there's no smell!

Considering the weight of the massive battery, this trimmer is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The edge guide tells you how far the string can go, and the auto-feed keeps it pretty close, so it's easy to precisely trim the edges of the lawn and around bushes and trees. This trimmer has enough power to get through normal tasks around the lawn quickly so I don't need anything close to the advertised "up to 60 minutes".On the negative side, the orientation of the trigger is a bit awkward. I'm forced to bend my wrist uncomfortably to get good control of the trigger. This is a potential problem for those who use this trimmer for extended periods of time.Beyond the lawn, this trimmer, for all its power, is nothing compared to a good gas trimmer. The 0.065" line bounces right off 1-1/2" thick weed stalks, gets caught up in the low-growing wiry weeds, and takes quite a bit of time to work its way through thick clumps of native grass. However, this trimmer shines again for trimming along the fence line.Overall, the Greenworks ST40B410 has been a terrific add to my arsenal, and it puts a bit of pleasure into yardwork.

The battery out lasted me. The unit is light and has sufficient power for it cutting width. The down side is it is not tap and go. If timing next to a wall or something solid the string hits, the string breaks. You have to constantly stop and press a button to get more string out or it will break and go internal requiring you to take the spool off and thread again. The string sent with the unit is too light for most uses. The dual string design makes it hard to thread.

Weedeater is well worth buying. It is very easy to assemble. It charges very quickly, and is very powerful. I have bought five weed eaters and this one is the best of all.!!!!! it takes me about 2 to 3 hours to do all my weed eating. With this powerful cordless weedeater, it cuts it in half. It does not lose power when the battery gets low. It cuts through the toughest grass and weeds and does not lose power. if I would say there is a downfall the only one would be that you have to stop and take the battery out and advance the string manually. But it only takes a few seconds to do so. I love this weedeater, and I am very pleased with it

The Greenworks ST40B410 Cordless String, 12" Trimmer with a 40 volt battery does a great job and the unit is very light and does not wear you out like the big heavy gas powered units. After using this Greenworks unit i will never again use that heavy gas powered unit. Hopefully, the heavy duty rechargeable battery lives up my expectations. Very good so far.

This thing is the biggest piece of garbage I have owned in quite some time. Lasted maybe two or three times doing trimming. Ran through a whole head of trimmer line during that interval. Far from my first time using a trimmer so I know how to make string last as long as possible. Trimmer near the end of the spool started regularly turning off. Now runs for 30 secs to a minute at a time before shutting off. I tried replacing the string. Bought 2 or 3 different "types" all of the correct diameter and that made no change even though the manual stated it was likely the problem. Guess it is time to break out the extension cord again and fume over the lost money in batteries, string and a trimmer. Infuriating.

Thought this would be a great product, however for me it is difficult because the bar does not Adj Hight (Handle does Adj.) and it is pretty heavy. And we have had nothing but trouble with the line getting stuck, and unraveling. When we received there was a missing screw and a part we were unsure of so we called greenworks and I will say they have great customer service, took care of me and my questions. I would have sent product back, but it was outside of my return date.

Overview:As described.Experience:Yep as described and in keeping with other reviews, that's good for 4 stars. I don't give 5 stars unless it does all that and does something exceeding expectations, like sing and dance. This does that...as good as a gas trimer, I'd go as far as say as good as a professional gas trimer. Eats thru any thing lots of power. Long reach, heavier than the smaller cheap ones ( gas or battery) not because of the battery just a solid build. I hade some doubts about the hard plastic head unit but so far so good. Have yet to use more than one bar on my little 2/3rd acre. These meet all my expectations, good quality no issues. Play and plug... Very easy to install and very well made, exceeds expectations in function and build quality.
