Painting With Fabric: Creating Art with Fabric Collage and Landscape Quilting

I absolutely love this book!! This is a hobby that truly fascinates me and I have been playing with for a couple of years. I struggle with knowing the proper layering and whether to stitch or just use a iron adhesive.I have several books on the subject and each seem to cover different areas. Jeanine Rvard Malaney's book covers what my other books were lacking and more of what I need to get started.She has very clear, very simple detailed instructions that are laid out nicely in her book . I do not find the book overwhelming. It's filled with lots of wonderful pictures and photos. I do agree with some of the other reviews about the pictures not being clear. Although, I don't find them blurry. Honestly, I wouldn't think twice about the pictures if it wasn't for the fact that I want to see and learn the detailed stitches, etc. Most the pictures are large and even full pages and in those I can see more detail.The book's product details read : CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (December 12, 2012)I also love that the book's print is on bright white paper with nice size font for easy reading.Compared to the other books that I have on the subject this is the best beginner book.

This is a fun book. Quilting is not really the 'it' for me. Since I find it hard to 'color within the lines', garment or home decor sewing is more in line with my skill set. However, this book helps with direction to go my own way. Seriously - this will set you on a path to make a work of art to hang on the wall. The only limitation would be your own imagination. This book will get you where you want to go.

Easy to follow

I liked the book. It taught me that doing a simple project is better than doing one too hard for me. I often try to do one that is too hard and then I am stuck and have to rip it apart.My next project will be one of hers. I loved the ones with the trains in them.Yes, she does paint things as well. I have not tried painting yet.All in all, I think it is my favorite art quilting book.

I purchased this book to help me understand painting on fabric and creating fabric art quilts. This book delivers the topic exactly what as described. I found it a little overwhelming but I was very new to the topic. I am going to revisit reading this book after more practice and creating art quilts and art journaling one quick. This book is very good for someone who's already interested in the topic and have begun some of the work in this area.

Would have liked more techniques in terms of doing collage. Expecially in terms of doing it by hand and not by machine.I have a sewing machine, but prefer to do fabric collages, particularly landscapes, by hand.

I love Jeanine Rvard Malaney quilts in the book...She had lots of great ideas on how to create your own Landscape Art Quilt...The mountains look so real with a little help with marking pens..I recommend this book to anyone who loves Landscape Art Quilts..

I recommend this book to others. It has lots of good information in it. I really like books like this one, as I make wall hangings, and it really has inspired me.

Useful introduction to fabric art. Good value second hand book.

I thought this book was really inspiring. I think it was easy for beginners to follow, and I can't wait to put my scissors into material and create a nice picture.

not good value vanity print.

Interesting book but very over-priced

Disappointed with book appeared to be photcopied and out of date to current presentations by artists. Appreciated the artists work,well done and easy to follow. Will keep the book and use in demo classes.
