The real deal, sort of....
This is a real, no kidding NATO specification 20 liter “Jerry Can”. It is made from the correct gauge sheet metal. The seams are recessed and continuously welded. The handle is the correct three position handle. Two people can share the load of a full container carried between them; one person can hold two empty cans together with one hand and one person can carry a full can by the center handle. This can has the correct NATO style opening and the correct leak proof lever lock lid with a rubber gasket and locking pin. The interior is coated for rust resistance although you may want to re-seal the interior with fuel tank sealer before using the can, just for extra life of the can. Everything about the CAN is correct and high quality. The can comes with a white plastic filter/spark arrester inserted into the spout of the can and extending into the interior of the can. This is really not necessary and just serves to make filling the can an annoying process. It is easily removed by threading a drywall or similar screw into the plastic sleeve and pulling it out with a pair of Vise Grips or Channel lock pliers. And then there’s the Nozzle that must be included with this “Fuel” can. That detachable nozzle that has a lever lock identical to the one on the lid and is meant to be attached to spout in order to pour fuel from the can. It is 100% Big Brother, Bureaucratic, Government mandated, JUNK. Remove that ridiculous contraption from that otherwise perfect NATO Jerry Can, along with that white plastic “filter” and throw both of those items in the nearest trash can. If you need an attachable pouring spout, buy a standard NATO style flexible nozzle and use that simple, functional, attachment. (see last photo - NOT included with the can) The one that comes with the can is unmitigated junk. So, overall, an excellent product that will likely give many years of service that is accompanied by some superfluous accessories that are easy to dispose of.
