Quest for Camelot

I watched this movie growing up and now I can watch it with my kids and it’s great got my money worth buying it we watched it so many times!

good price good shipping and it's a great film definitely reccomend to anyone with children or who has watched this film as a child.

This movie was a core staple of my childhood! Being able to watch it again brought me so much joy!

Used to watch this movie when I was kid and I used to love it. I watched it again with my husband who's never seen it and he hated it. I guess the nostalgic charm still has a hold on me.

I grew up loving this movie and now my kids love it too!! It may not be historically accurate, but its a fun way to spark kids interest in to ancient British history

I absolutely love this movie. It brings back so many memories. Especially the songs. It makes me feel comfortable, warm, and happy.

HEAVILY underrated movie. i had it on VHS as a kid (got it from the dollar store, wild right?) and I would watch it over and over again. Watched it again as a 28 year old, cried. (probably because I'm on my period tbh) Garret is as hot as I remember. The Songs? let me put it this way, I haven't watched this movie in well over 15 years, to MY surprise, I still remembered the words. I know, blew my mind too.absolute banger of a movie. Not showing this movie to your kids should be criminal at this point.

In my newly-arisen rise of fancy towards animation, few films disappointed me as much as "Quest for Camelot". Since it came very much off the heels of the super-successful  Space Jam , I had high hopes for a sword & sorcery adventure from the promising studio that brought us decades of Looney Tunes; perhaps they were ready to step away from serial cartoons and become an empire like Disney. I mean, who wouldn't be impressed by simply looking at the mighty list of talent hired to voice the characters? - Jessalyn Gilsig ("Boston Public") as the spunky young heroine, Cary Elwes ( The Princess Bride ) as the aspiring knight, and Gary Oldman ( Bram Stoker's Dracula ) as the menacing villain, with stars as diverse as Pierce Brosnan ( GoldenEye ) and Jaleel White ("Family Matters") bringing up the supporting cast. In addition, the film's soundtrack - fronted by LeAnn Rimes, Steve Perry, and Celine Dion - was destined for greatness of its own, so how could this film go wrong? Well, read on!Based upon the novel  The King's Damosel  by Vera Chapman (who would not live to see the completed picture), the plot of "Camelot" incorporates bits of the Arthurian myth with Disney-esque adventure and humour. Kayley (Gilsig) is the daughter of a slain knight of the Round Table who takes on a quest to find the sword Excalibur and deliver it back to King Arthur (Brosnan), from whom it had been stolen by Sir Ruber (Oldman) - a sorcery-practicing traitor to the kingdom. Along the way, she's accompanied by the blind young hermit Garrett (Elwes) and pair of quarrelling dragons that share a body with two heads (Eric Idle from "Monty Python" and Don Rickles of  Toy Story ). All the while, they are pursued by Ruber and his minions - a giant, goofy griffin (Bronson Pinchot, "Perfect Strangers") and a small gang of enchanted iron monssters, including a  Dirty Harry -quoting chicken with an axe for a beak (White).My disappointment lies mainly in the production: though director Frederick du Chau would go on to direct a couple big-name features for Disney, the biggest mainstream features he had worked on prior to "Camelot" had been  Tom and Jerry - The Movie , which hasn't exactly been venerated. In addition, the art direction was run by a duo whose accomplishments were mostly made up by direct-to-video animation. It's this style of animation that brings me my first complaint about the film: at its best, "Camelot" is on par with a Disney feature but at least half of the time the film only offers boring camera angles, flat storyboarding, and inconsistent animation, giving the impression that you're watching exceptionally nice Saturday morning cartoon.Also exceptionally down-letting are the characters themselves. Though Kayley and Garrett are well-rounded and undergo character development, the likes of Ruber and Devon & Cornwall (the dragons) stand out specifically as bland and flawed: Ruber makes more threats than evil deeds and is generally more humorous than villains in his position are supposed to be, while Devon & Cornwall are not nearly funny enough in their role of comic relief. Meanwhile, potentially intriguing characters like King Arthur and Merlin (John Gielgud,  Gandhi ) aren't given a lot of screentime and are unable to detract from the film's overbearing one-note-ness.As for the rest of the picture, as much as it tries to live up to the standards of Disney, it ends up floundering on a downward tromp set by the lacklustre script. The heroes are not put in nearly enough peril to make their quest seem epic and Ruber and his minions come off as too big of pushovers to make the eventual showdown in Castle Camelot seem justified. The soundtrack is the brightest aspect of the feature, but even it is repressed by having performers sing the in-film versions of the eventual chart-placers (e.g. Bryan White dubs Steve Perry's "I Stand Alone"), neccessitating you to buy the soundtrack or skip to the special features to enjoy the songs.I'd advise you to give this film a rent before considering a purchase. At its most basic, "Quest for Camelot" is a failed attempt at effectively cloning the formulas and style of Disney, whose shadow the picture never manages to break out of.

Excellent in all respects

..., denn die angeblich vorhandenen Audiospuren lassen sich nicht abspielen - vorausgesetzt man wählt etwas anderes als Englisch. Wenn man versucht den Spaß im Film zu verstellen hängt sich die DVD auf. Das passiert übrigens auch, wenn man versucht in der englischen Version vor oder zurück zu springen.Hängt sich auch gerne mal so auf, auch ohne vorher in das Menu zu gelangen. Da bekommt man als häufigste Fehlermeldung "Disc konnte nicht gelesen werden".Ich bin sehr enttäuscht, dass die DVD nicht das ist, was ich haben wollte (eine funktionierende DVD). Ich habe den Film als Kind geliebt, und kann ihn so nicht anschauen. SChadde

Gleich vorweg: ich bin zufrieden mit dem Kauf. Und ich wusste, worauf ich mich einlasse, weil ich mich gründlich darüber informiert habe und trotzdem neugierig war. Aber im Fall von "Quest For Camelot" (Originaltitel) rate ich zur Vorsicht! Der Film verspricht auf den ersten Blick viel, wegen seines offenkundigen Disney-Stils, aber schon wenig später erweist er sich als überraschend substanzlos in allen Details (Story, Charaktere, Grafik). Ein Hinweis: falls Ihr Euch dennoch überraschen lassen wollt, überspringt bitte den nächsten Text-Block!Der Film zählt zweifellos zu den Berechenbarsten, die ich je gesehen habe. Protagonistin Kayley hat optische Ähnlichkeit mit Belle aus "Die Schöne Und Das Biest", aber ihre Handlungen wirken sehr torhaft. Sie ist getrieben von dem Wunsch, Abenteuer zu bestehen und Camelot zu retten, weil sie es langweilig findet, zuhause zu bleiben und die Tiere zu versorgen. Kein sehr bewegender Grund, Mädel! Ihre Handlungen führen auch auffallend oft zu Katastrophen. Im Ernst: der Film wäre ohne sie besser dran! Dies von einer Hauptperson zu sagen, schmerzt schon gewaltig!Garretts Sehbehinderung wäre ein interessantes Detail gewesen. Aber leider kommt es in dem Film nicht wirklich zum Zuge, weil Garrett nur über seine geplatzten Träume als Ritter frustriert ist. Seltsam, da die Sehbehinderung ihn nicht wirklich behindert (*lach*)!Hinzu kommen viele unsinnige Szenen, z.B. dass die Schergen von Bösewicht Lord Ruber es offenbar gar nicht erwarten können, sich von ihm zu gewissenlosen Killerzombies mutieren zu lassen. Mithilfe eines Zaubertranks, den er von Hexen gekauft hat. Von der Firma "Acme". Ja, "Looney Tunes" lassen grüßen (*doppel lach*)!!!All das läuft auf ein sehr unspektakuläres Finale hinaus - wie erwartet!!! Einige Songs sind gut, Danke, Warner Brothers! Aber genau das schmerzt in diesem Fall, weil hier doch sehr viel Potential vergeudet wurde. Die Helden tummeln sich fast nur in Wäldern umher, um das verlorene Schwert Excalibur zu finden, was schnell langweilig wird. Und das Ende sorgt für null Überraschung. *zähneknirsch!* Der Versuch, Disney eins auszuwischen, ist Euch gründlich misslungen!Mein Fazit: greift lieber zu Disney's "Die Hexe Und Der Zauberer" oder "Taran Und Der Zauberkessel"! Die zählen zwar auch nicht zu den Besten, sind aber weitaus befriedigender als das hier.

Der Film ist einfach toll. Ich sah ihn als Kind im Kino und war da schon begeistert. Jahre später entdeckte ich ihn hier auf DVD und musste ihn haben. Der Film hat tolle Musik und eine spannende Geschichte. Auch werden vermeintliche Außenseiter zu wahren Helden. Auch körperlich Eingeschränkte können etwas schaffen! Das ist eine tolle Botschaft des Films.

Muy satisfecha. Llego muy rapido con prime.En cuanto al dvd, me gustó que no es la version con el plastico naranja que aparece en la foto, sino la original. Eso en un punto mas a favor.Ademas como bien pone en la contraportada, es un disco de doble cara con distintos idiomas, y esta en español. Por esto mismo no tiene ningun dibujo en el disco pero se comprende y no importa.Quitando el hecho de que la portada esta en aleman, que es algo que ya sabia antes de comprarlo, es una edicion perfecta para comprar en España. Sobre todo porque es muy dificil de encontrar por aqui.
