Candle by the Hour 80-Hour Green Candle, Eco-friendly Natural Beeswax with Cotton Wick

We didn't buy it for lighting. We bought it for it's functionality. And it works. The absence of mosquitos and other flying pests is quite nice when your outside, trying to enjoy the weather. It also is a good decoration when it is not in use and makes for a great conversation piece.

This is really interesting looking and goes well with the age of my home. However, I selected citronella-scented wax to help with evening bugs. There is barely any scent and I am not completely sure that it is citronella. I have citronella plants and coils that are natural and way more fragrant.It burns well and extinguishes itself when it reaches the clip. The metal clip is a little large for the width of the glass cylinder and it will clink against the glass now and again.I might try again with a refill, but if I were buying, I would focus more on the design and efficacy of the burn.

The flame is quite a bit brighter then I thought it would be, Which is great. It does seem to burn rather quickly. Two inches last for about 40ish minutes. But the stand is nice and sturdy the wax is pliable enough to move around. Overall it's a great candel with a really cool concept.

This candle stand is quite large. The candle & stand are beautiful and big. I read some comments that some people don’t think the candle is actually beeswax. I think it is indeed beeswax & it smells heavenly. It burns clean and does not smoke. it is very beautiful. The only downside for me is that the clamp does take some strength to squeeze it and the candle seems to burn a bit more quickly than i thought it would. It does put itself out which is a nice feature. I would purchase this again and I plan to purchase refills.

I am BEYOND happy with this candle set.1st of all, the packaging was excellent. See the pictures. Well wrapped and protected gave me a sense of comfort that the product was probably also made with care. Instructions for use was great.2nd, it is sooooo pretty! It also smells amazing It! You can actually detect the scent of honey when you unwrap it and it burns. It isn't a lot. Just a hint every so often which was an unexpected nice surprise. It also has a candle in it already so you just unwrap and use straight out of the box.3rd It is lightweight so would use caution if small children are around table tops.4th We have burned it 2x and it works like a charm. I ordered 2 so I could keep one and 2nd is gift for my daughter and son in law. Also purchased the refills. PROBLEM is I ordered the wrong refills (regular candle not Citronella which we both need in Miami given that mosquitos here are large enough to carry a small dog!) The candle set is correct 80 Hour Citronella candle yet i ordered the wrong refills. I am NOT returning the replacements i bought incorrectly. Yes, it's that beautifulConclusion......you HAVE to order this elegant piece. It will look beautiful as an outdoor tabletop centerpiece or wherever you place it outdoors, is functional, burns clean without soot in the air or on the glass or messy dripping wax, works as stated, and will absolutely 💯 be a conversation starter.Just be careful when clicking the refill to scroll to Citronella refill. I just realized that upon opening the refills.Side noteI did need to use additional mosquito Repellent so it's not as much as a barrier as other products yet I would absolutely recommend it. It's that pretty and unique.

I have been using this candle for a few years now, but the last purchase was a disappointment.The wax was different. It was not soft and flexible as previous ones. I hope that was just a one time difference. I prefer the softer version of the wax. Also, this wax drips quite a bit, and as in the photo, the wax has piled up. This is definitely not the same refill that I have been getting. Bees wax is not supposed to drip like this. I will have to make my own from all the left over wax. Also need to mention that the three inches recommended do not last more than 20 or so minutes. So forget about getting 80 hrs worth.

It’s a nice thing to try. I found it really annoying to adjust it every single use and even while this use.it looks nice but that’s itWill not buy again

My first time to burn I pulled up 1.5" (measured) to check on the burn time. Three inches is supposed to burn in one hour, so 1.5" would burn 30 minutes.I'm a beekeeper and I do make candles and sell them but I can't make these specialized candles. I love this antique idea of having a courtship candle. Back in the day, the parents would set the candle length for the burn time. Then the suitor would visit and then when the candle self-snuffs, it's his time for him to leave. These courtship candles self snuff whereas the wrought iron ones burn by the hour but don't snuff.Being beeswax, depending on where you live, if the wax is cold it can break when you pull on it but it'll heat up incredibly quickly just from the heat of your fingers. So if you wrap your fingers around the wax for just a few seconds before you pull it up that will prevent breakage.It burned with a nice flame with no drafts which will speed up burn time. I didn't order the glass cylinder, mostly because I know beeswax burns better with lots of access to oxygen. The unit is about 10" tall. The copper is lovely and the whole thing looks well made.The candle burned for 35 minutes and then self-snuffed. So it was 5 minutes more than the estimate. Love this old fashioned candle.

I have been buying 80 hr refill candles for a couple of years. Initially none were scented. Earlier this year of the refills were scented - vanilla. I buy unscented products as I have sensitivities to most scents. My last order of 2 refills were unscented. I was pleased. Hopefully in the future I will continue to received unscented refills. Thank you.

I don't regret buying this product; I use it daily. But the packaging is awful; opening it is quite a mess. And it does take some strong fingers to work the device. If you can get past that though, it does what it's supposed to and doesn't look bad doing it. If I was to gift this to someone though, I'd repackage it myself and maybe even have it setup as that would probably make it a much more enjoyable experience.
