Simple, Easy, Compact
The clock is very compact and useful for travel. For a digital travel clock in this price range, it does what it should. I do suggest taking some time to read the manual really quick so you're not confused about the alarm, how it works, and setting it. The clock is hard plastic casing, with blue LED light button that is a bit dim even in low-light but it does only require AA batteries after all. The display is a bit dim in regular light conditions, but this is not intended to be top of the line travel gear. It's a basic clock to set up and use once you familiarize yourself with the buttons on the back/top of the case. Some alarm clocks are too easy to turn off the alarm by accident instead of snoozing it, and this one has some added protection in that you must reach behind the clock for the medium-sized ALARM button to turn it completely off. Hitting the mode button changes between time and alarm mode and will show you the alarm set time which can be changed from there by hitting the set button. Then you adjust the alarm time and date as needed and hitting mode to exit or "confirm." Then you can toggle between your alarm and the actual time. The "alarm on" icon is rather small, and at the top right above the colon between the hour and the minute. Make sure you have the alarm toggled on while setting the alarm. The snooze apparently will go off indefinitely until you turn the alarm off. In large display is the current time (12 or 24 hour choice), and as some nice additional features, it also displays the current date and weekday. There's only one alarm. It starts out quiet and increases in volume and intensity pretty quickly. The alarm is not old fashion "screaming at you alarm" but pulses or beeps. I say a heavy sleeper might want a back-up device to this such as your phone, etc. Don't forget to unlock the clock buttons after you're done for the day and all set for the night, you'll be flabbergasted for quite some time trying to figure out why none of the buttons work ;-) My only complaints this far are minor out outweigh the positives. Firstly, the "alarm set/on" could be made larger and placed on the left side where it's more noticeable. Secondly, I was hoping it would lock you out of the clock buttons on it's own when closed, but it doesn't. So you have to remember to toggle the switch before you relocate your clock, but in this price range, that's not a super-common feature anyway for these clocks. The clock display could be brighter as well as the LED. However, it only uses 2 triple A batteries, so it will be interesting to see how much life I get out of a set of batteries by using it once a day for a week.

Small, easy, lightweight, simple
When I need to get up for an excursion while traveling, I hate to rely solely on my phone's alarm. Many hotels no longer supply alarm clocks, and if they do, I often can't figure out how to set the alarm. This one is small, easy to use, each to pack. I like that you can turn it off after the trip is done so it doesn't continue to use up the battery. Was loud enough to serve its purpose.

Great clock but inconsistent quality
I bought one of these so I could take all the phone and tablets out of our bedroom, and still know what time it was in the middle of the night, and set the alarm. Using it for travel is just a bonus. (I haven't used it for travel yet.) The clock is very nicely designed and easy to use. When switched to "off" and with the lid shut, pressing the light button won't do anything, so you can put it in your luggage or your pocket without the battery wearing down. Then when you switch it "on" again, it's already showing the right time. My wife finds the alarm noise annoying but for me it's just right, not too loud or too quiet. The reason I'm taking a star off is because of the second one I ordered. I liked the first so much, I ordered a second one for my wife—but the light button on this one doesn't work nearly so well. Whereas on the first one it's very easy to turn on the light, on the second one I got the light button has to be pressed right in the center to work—if you press near the back of the button (the easiest place to aim for), nothing happens at all. This is a quality control issue. I opened up the alarm clock to look and nothing is obviously broken or missing. Possibly later I'll open up the first unit I bought to be able to compare. For now, both work just fine as clocks *and* alarm clocks, but the light on the second unit is harder to turn on that it should be. (My wife doesn't mind, though.) UPDATE: I got another one to keep in my office. The button works fine on this one, but the display is a different type: smaller, thinner numbers than shown in the product image. Photo attached showing the newer one on the left and one of the older ones on the right. The older one is easier to read with fatter numbers; also the numbers shown take up more of the available space since in the older one the first digit isn't a full seven-segment display (since it will only ever be the number "1"). The newer one has four full seven-segment numbers, so the time shown takes up less space (i.e. is shown smaller). I like the old design better and it's much clearer and easier to read at a glance.

Super Happy & Recommend ...
After much research, including bad reviews, bought this little prize. Why I’d recommend it for me may be a different need for you. So, I’ll include why you might not like this clock. For me: my phone will now stay in the office. I need better sleep and don’t want the distraction of having the phone near by. Basically, I’m banning myself from a phone in my room. You all know you’ve been there with those late night whatever’s and then tired ‘cause your sleep is all off. Size, this phone can fit anywhere. Including ease of use for travel. The base flips and becomes a screen protector. Love this. Shut off option, doesn’t erase the set clock. Only turns this off when not using. Once the switch is on everything goes back to ready to go off and time running as usual. Snooze is five minutes every time ya push the top light button. Super simple to set the time and alarm. Didn’t need the directions for this it was so simple to set up. Two double a rechargeable batteries make use for years to come super simple. For heavy sleepers this may not be your clock. The alarm isn’t very loud. It’s perfect for me. For someone who prefers obnoxious noise to wake them up don’t bother buying this. You’ll miss work or your morning meeting. Me, my phone always tweeted birds and slowly woke me. For me, this subtile loud enough continuous alarm with snooze is perfect for home and travel. Other notables: at the top AM and PM including a picture of a bell are found to note alarm is set. Batter cover is easy and simple to remove. There’s a tiny 1/2 inches curve that you can slick something into if you’re not able to remove the base when it’s covering the clock face. All in all wonderful design, size, basic clock for home and travel. For those complaints about the digital numbers showing up or light not being bright enough this doesn’t appear to be a problem for me. I’ll update this review if anything changes from use over time.

Loud Alarm as Advertised
A loud alarm was paramount for me. This clock has it. Perfect. Easy to use, too.

Poor quality, unreliable buttons, had to buy a Braun
I'm in Tasmania, and when my trusty travel alarm clock dating from the 1990s packed it in after 20 years of use, I went looking for another. I was surprised at how difficult it was to locate a simple AAA-powered alarm clock with no bells and whistles. But, eventually, I came across the Travelweys and ordered one from America. It seemed okay on arrival. I even went to the bother of writing some notes on how to use it, and glueing that inside the case (see photo). Isn't that a ridiculous idea itself – having to write notes for how to use an alarm clock. Anyway, the Travelweys went well for a certain amount of time, so I bought two more. Of those two, one of the alarms didn't work on arrival. Can't send it back to America, so, as I am an electronics hobbyist, and had some spare mini-speakers, I pulled the clock apart and replaced the speaker. No go. There was something wrong with the drive circuit. Then gradually I noticed that the buttons were not well designed. You'd press them and sometimes the switch contact would "bounce" – detect two or three contacts for only one physical contact. I'd be setting the alarm, or the time, and the extra contacts would make the setting go past the hours or minutes I wanted. So around I go again (there's no reverse on the time-setting function). And the bounces cause the time to go past the setting again. Extremely annoying. And this began to happen on all three Travelweys. I now use the Travelweys in areas of the house where I don't need to set the alarm, just as timepieces in the garage/workshop that sort of thing. They do keep excellent time. What to replace them with? I ordered a Braun BC08W. After a few months with the Braun, I bought another. No problems with the speaker (gentle increase in volume as it comes on), the buttons never bounce, the Braun is smaller, and it has reverse on the time and alarm setting. Altogether a superior clock, with a superior price -- $55 vs $38 when I purchased. Travelweys -- I suggest giving it a miss. A shocker of an alarm clock. P.S. The red tape on one of the clocks is to tell me that this clock has the faulty alarm.

It actually plays the alarm as expected! No more being late getting my grandson to the bus stop!
Easy to follow directions, lightweight, compact... exactly what I needed! My phone's alarm app was apparently not compatible with my phone. It would tell me how many hours until alarm time at night but then NEVER ring. Otherwise the phone works ok. This clock was a much more affordable solution! Its almost exactly 1/2 the size of my phone, lightweight, and very portable!

Lightweight and simple to use
Love this simple light weight clock! I bought one of these clocks about 40 yrs and 20 yrs ago, respectively. It folds in half and I can throw it in my purse or luggage when I travel.

Tiene todo. No sobra nada

Just right
Screen is not bright until you tap for light, so it does not keep you awake. Very easy to set. Easy to read. Nice to be able to turn it off during travel. It remembers the time when turned back on.

Semplice e maneggevole
Ottimo acquisto.

Szkoda.
