One of those, "I have a brilliant idea! Oh, it already exists..." items.After 3+ years of feeding 2 toddlers, the wife and I tired of cleaning up liquids and messy foods after each meal. "Normal" bibs just didn't do a great job of catching all the slop that ended up on their shirts, pants, baby seat, and the floor.Some of the many bibs we have:*  BabyBjorn Soft Bib : Relatively stiff rubber with big scoop on the bottom. Easy to clean and great in theory, it's uncomfortable for toddlers, and gets in the way of the tray table, creating a big gap for food to fall through. It should ideally be a foot longer. This one rarely gets used.*  OXO Tot Silicone Roll Up Bib : Similar to BabyBjorn bib, but only the bottom scoop is rubber and the rest is thick fabric. Since the upper portion is fabric, the scoop portion can rest on top of the tray, but that gets in the way of the bowl/plate and also leaves a gap with the shirt and pants. We keep 2 for on the go use (rolls up compactly into the scoop portion).*  Bumkins Waterproof Super Bib : Thin, water-resistant fabric bib is compact and comfortable, but the flimsy fabric scoop barely stays open. Liquids dribble down the bib and the tray onto pants and floor. These stink like a hobo unless you properly wash and dry in the sunlight!*  Bumkins Waterproof Supersized SuperBib : Same as their regular bib above, but extra long to better cover the pants, with the scoop at the very bottom. Similar downsides as the shorter version + bigger size is a bit more challenging to clean.*  BIB-ON, A New, Full-Coverage Bib and Apron Combination : BIB-ON has the same extra-long length as Bumkins Supersized, but with much better lateral coverage and waist Velcro straps and also much thicker fabric. The fabric scoop is also stitched to form separate small-big-small scoops at the bottom to better stay open to catch food and liquid. Same downsides as Bumkins Supersized. The shape of this bib is perfect. Definitely prevents the dreaded stockpiling of crumbs on baby's lap and the strap around the torso is brilliant. I used to use it for every meal and wipe it down or wash it in the sink and hang it up to dry between meals. The material is fabric on the front side with a waterproof backing. The problem is that we live in a humid environment and sometimes it wouldn't dry completely leading to stinky mold. The fabric front side was also discoloring due to carrot puree and the like. Instead I went to the fabric store and bought some light-weight vinyl tablecloth material. I cut a bib out of that and sewed some velcro on and it works perfectly. It can be wiped down every time and doesn't need to dry. And it doesn't stain.

An excellent concept that frankly I'm surprised isn't more widely available. The Bib-On bib reminds me of a barber's cape, just smaller and water repellant. We bought one as a trial and then promptly two more (one for backup and another for the car/dining out). Our previous bib was the waste length variety with built in food scraps catcher; it did a good job but didn't catch everything. This bib's longer length just builds on that concept. The cloth is soft to the touch. The velcro neck straps make it easy to put on and to take off. The longer length keeps my son's lap free of meal time debris and thus also the highchair's seatbelt and seat, two areas previously sure to be soiled and difficult to clean. Cleanup is simplified and in fact my son now looks as good after a meal as he does before. This bib is beautifully made and should stand up to a lot of use. 2nd purchase! Purchased 1st October 2020 for infant granddaughters visit. Our daughter took it home with her.Purchased the 2nd for our now 1 year-old granddaughter's visit. I wanted to protect the car seat & dining area. The coverage is great & helps with protecting clothing as well as a child-sized splash guard.

As a grand who saves water at any opportunity, these "protectors" save laundry with toddlers and preschoolers when it is too cool to take off their shirts when they are eating or doing messy projects like finger painting with chocolate pudding. Kids love the prints. Everything comes of ONLY IF washedimmediately.
