Little Miss Bronte Jane Eyre: A Counting Primer

Essential for classic literature lovers with children! The pictures are charming. It will look perfect in my little girl's room!

As a mom with something of a Jane Eyre obsession, there was no question that I was going to get this for my baby daughter, but I am so pleased with the book overall! The quality of the book itself is very good, the illustrations are evocative of the story with a modern twist, and the incorporated quotes are well chosen. Does it tell you much about what happened in the real book? No. But is my months-old daughter really ready for the plot of Jane Eyre yet? No. She is, however, ready for counting pearls and trunks and books with Mom. It is age appropriate and fun for both of us. I really love it!

Perfect as a gift for the children of any Tigermums! Beautiful illustrations and such a cute idea, although some of the words are way beyond the natural capability of a child just leaning to read, it's more about the charm of using a classic novel as the frame of reference. Note that this is not a baby friendly version of the novel itself, its just a few relevant words paired together to teach counting. Stick to the classic board books if you really want to encourage reading skills!

This book is adorable. My mom collects copies of Jane Eyre (her favorite novel), so I just had to buy this picture book for her. The idea is clever and the illustrations are very Mary Blair-style I'm happy to report that my mom has this book prominently displayed next to her other (real) copies of Jane Eyre. This is a great, little conversation-starter, though (obviously) the target age group isn't going to get the joke.

This is a beautiful book. My son adores it and always chooses it first when we are reading. It is a counting book so don't expect a truncated version of the narrative. Nonetheless it very cleverly interweaves ideas, characters and themes from the text. There are also some quotes from the the original. The graphics are really stunning and I love looking at it when I'm reading it to my 20 month old.
