AVAILABILITY + $$$$.. X ...Safety = ??!
… I was anticipating this package to be delivered as neatly and efficiently as it was the first time I ordered it. That was approximately one month ago.I discovered CRUNCHA MAME [dried and seasoned enamel snacks] last spring, 2020. I found myself completely enraptured with the awesome taste and subtle effects on my well-being, and most considerably driven to keep the snacking as a quotidian mainstay due to the nutritional benefits and healing effects of those benefits, all noticed and achieved in a relatively moderate and short period of time, 1-2 months.Admitabky, one thing led to another and I had forgotten about the product until i found myself once again stymied by my disease and overwhelmingly tired. As I looked at the calendar at the turn of 2021 and contemplated "where I had been" at the dawning of last year, I recalled my diet, or regimen that had helped me recover from some awful, once-in-a-lifetime-&-seemingly cataclysmic and jarring surgeries I had been through (and survived!) by the end of 2019...I then recalled how -- even in Easter last year, a cold and lonely day as America found itself in the grips of COVID-19. Still, I recalled how so had tested on that Sunday with the knowledge that so has tapped into a notable find that was giving me more "bang" than i had ever hooed for in my first glance and first purchase of a product that so would come to know so well..it also became a "super-food" [ i.e., meeting the 1:1:1 ratio that I have researched and discovered for myself, a ratio of fats, carbs, and proteins to which only a handful of natural foods hold. These foods have served to support me and my body's myriad, complicated needs as I mark my 32nd year of living with T1DM and it's sequelae, or complications. So, smooth sailing. Right?! Actually, this is an expensive product for what you get, and you get 8 packets (20g -- 0.7 oz. edamame per packet) for ~$20 (March, 2021). it is interesting to note that I paid $13 last year at this time for the same product! Still, even at $13 for 160 g of product [5.2 oz.]... $20/ 5oz, = $4/ oz, And, penultimately, I realize I am pain $48 per pound of dry edamame. So, therefore, this is a royally expensive product; considering that edamame is one of the food staples of the world and not at the top of the heterotrophs food pyramid; just the opposite!!Sadly, the new box that I received this last week was so damaged even before it was re-packaged [Two-times-over with 2 transparent bags encompassing wrinkled and punctured product box corresponding with the 2 constituent labels/ stickers, indicative of the actual product tangjed within these web of this grim, lackluster, foreboding transport accommodation of sorts...First when I unraveled the bags, I noticed that the flap on the box had been opened and disassembled! My first concern was with the obvious frugality with which this "prized" product was opened and re-wrapped most lucidly....still, I was willing to overlook this as I have received cruncher mama before and have received damage packages. But, the worst insult was to come… I opened a pot and began eating it when I noticed it was pretty much dry to a degree where I couldn't taste the normally great richness of the edamame. I turned the box over and over until I came across the noteworthy expired sell by date. I include a photo of the sell by date which was 12 Dash 17 Dash 2020. Now, this is a dry food product. I'm not. Given that most cereals last a year if bought directly from the store, I am assuming that this product would have a shelflife of about a year. Therefore, This product must've been sitting around and from the looks of it sitting around in a warehouse and perhaps even sold to a consumer before it reached my door. I am just so lucky that I noticed this before I eat anymore. I suffer from gastroparesis and pancreatic insufficiency and other conditions that make it very difficult for me to digest and for my body to breakdown most foodstuffs.Honestly, I will be very cautious in the future about buying from Amazon and anything I do buy I will be further cautious about its packaging and such. We live in very difficult times. Just because something is readily available does not mean it is safe!

Delicious and healthy - the kiddo and I love cruncha-ma-me!
I am a big fan of edamame and eat it pretty regularly. My 17 month old son also really enjoys edamame. I have bought dry-roasted edamame and I like it fairly well, but it's always pretty dry and fairly bland.I noticed cruncha-ma-me for sale in a local natural grocery and bought a pouch on a whim to have with my lunch. I figured that it would have about the same texture and flavor as the dry roasted edamame I'm accustomed to. Boy, was I wrong!I found the cruncha-ma-me to be much more crisp and crunchy than dry-roasted edamame. It also finishes with an amazingly creamy texture that is just a delight. The flavor is much "greener" tasting than dry-roasted edamame as well. Overall, eating cruncha-ma-me was much closer to eating fresh edamame than dry-roasted. I also really like that the beans are lightly salted - just enough to give them that extra YUM factor (although I like edamame without salt as well). My son is also a huge fan of cruncha-ma-me. We frequently live out of our car on Saturdays while running errands and visiting family, and I struggle to find snacks for him that are: healthy, easy to pack, easy to eat (i.e. not sticky or runny), and not loaded with sugar. Cruncha-ma-me is perfect! He can eat it while riding in a grocery cart, and, unlike a squeeze pouch, I am not going to look away for 2 seconds only to turn back and discover that he's covered in sticky fruit puree. If he drops a cruncha-ma-me bean it's no biggie to pick up.I am really impressed with cruncha-ma-me and foresee it becoming a staple snack for my household. I do wish it was a little less expensive and came in larger quantities, but I'm still pretty happy with it and will continue to buy.

No flavor - just crunch
I've actually ordered these Crunch-A-Mame boxes twice. Before getting this freeze dried product, I used to buy Seaport dry roasted edamame, which was flavorful as well as crunchy, for snacking and as salad toppers, but the calories on anything dry roasted can really add up, not unlike nuts. So, for the sake of saving some calories, I decided to try this freeze dried edamame product. Because they are freeze dried, each pod has that powdery brittleness (squish them between your fingers and they turn to dust) and virtually no flavor, just like all products I've tried that are freeze dried. I guess you have to give up taste for the lower calorie count! Nonetheless, I still use them as a topper to certain dishes, for the crunch and some extra protein. I get my "crunch" fix that way.

Tasty and healthy
I love edamame prepared pretty much any way, but I normally just steam them. It's delicious, but messy and takes a lot of time to squeeze them out of the pods. I wanted to try these because they are simple and quick, and I can take them with me. I got the lightly seasoned, and they are tasty! I love the texture of them. They aren't super crunchy like the fried soybeans or trail mixes I've had. The texture is different, and satisfying. These are a much healthier snack than a lot of other things I could be taking with me, and they actually fill me up and make me feel better. I wish they came in bigger boxes. I will easily go through 8 of these. BTW I looked around, and Amazon has the best price I could find on these.
