The pillow is 12 inches by 20 inches. The area for neck support is 4 inches thick and then slopes down to 2 inches. This pillow like all Tempur-Pedic products will have a strong smell when opened from the memory form but it will go away. This pillow will last you for years. I had my first pillow for over 10 years.

I weighed the pillow without packaging and I got six pounds They shipped it to me in a plastic wrapper that couldn't have weighed more than two pounds. (no box) It is pretty dense foam, but not 15 pounds worth.

Q: whats the best way to remove the new smell?

Everyone has it wrong on how to remove the smell from this pillow. I purchased one from the tempur-Pedic website. It arrived with such a strong smell that I could not sleep with it without being nauseous. I called the company and they told me to roll the pillow up tightly and unroll it. Do this several times and it opens up the foam to release the odor. Worked like a charm.

Q: How soft is this pillow?

It is not soft and actually I was so disappointed with it I returned the pillow.
