Corn Husks Hojas para Tamal to make Tamales using a Masa Spreader (optional) Traditional Mexican Food

They were a good size and quality. I really liked how many big sized leaves I got out of the bag, if you know anything about making Tamales you know the bigger the better. I was really happy and will order these leaves again.

Last year it took my mother and I hours to make tamales because we kept having to piece together our corn husks. I decided to look for a better quality husk and I found these. By far these husks were nice, large and pliable. Since then I’vepurchased another pack. Will never use anything else but this product!!

I really wanted these to work out but they just didn’t. I was only about to use half of each bag because pieces were covered in mildew or had to many holes to save the husk. I’ve been making tamales for over a decade and I am very capable making do with what I have to work with. I usually make about 12-15 dozen at a time to share with family and friends. I can usually do this with 3 -4 bags. I used to live in LA and would buy corn husks for $2 a bag. I now live in NY and in the past had family members bring husks with them when they came to visit. This year I ordered the husks for almost $12 a bag because I felt bad asking family to bring them or ship them. I was only able to get about 3 dozen out of 2 bags this time... I’m a little bummed by this purchase and have no recourse because they cannot be exchanged and I am not able to get a refund.

Recently, my daughter had to bring a dish to school to share with her class on a Friday and she begged me to make homemade tamales. She loves my tamales and I couldn't resist her sweet face so I agreed to make them for her. I live in an area where corn husks are just not found in the local grocery stores (Winn Dixie and Publix) so I decided to check out Amazon and found these. I read the reviews and felt satisfied with ordering them and since they would arrive around 12:30 on Thursday I would have time to make the tamales for my daughter to take to school the next day. I see the mailman pull away from my gate and immediately go out to retrieve my package. I open the box and notice the bag the husks are in is very warm. I open the bag and there's moisture inside and then I smell mold. I start to panic. I really need these and I need them today! My daughter is depending on me. So I start pulling the stack of husks apart and to my horror there is black mold on more than half of the husks in the bag making them unusable. The rest have mold on them as well but I was able to cut the mold off with scissors. I was able to salvage enough to make only 26 tamales (yes, my daughter helped :-) ). So after all that you might ask them why 3 stars for a rating, right? Well, I do not think that the bag getting warm and mold starting to grow on the husks was by any doing of the company. Something else positive about the husks are that they are very clean, not having many corn "hairs" to pick off at all and they are really perfectly sized to make perfect tamales. Yes I had something bad happen but I don't believe it was the fault of anything to do with the Gallegos company's packaging or product. It was just hot outside and the mold started to grow because of that, so I blame the weather. I would buy this product again and I would also recommend these husks for making homemade tamales. And... My daughter said everyone at school loved her tamales. Happy kid happy mom. Happy cooking 😊

These are the best corn husks I have found to date! They were clean and of great size - not all of them but they were all useable! I will definitely order from this company again!

Some of these had sign of mold or mildew so I could only use half of them. I ordered two packs because of some of the other reviews claiming the same problem. The usable ones worked great for my homemade tamales!

There were a LOT of husks for the price. Made some world class tamales. They worked really well.

These are some of the cleanest whole husk that I have seen. I am very impressed with the quality of the product! Will purchase these again.
