Great product, great support
We bought 2 sets for my wife's commuter bike last Christmas. She loves them - her commute home is often in the dark, and side visibility is crucial. A year later the batteries had run out, but after replacing them, one wheel still didn't work - it seemed like the switch was defective. But with one email to the Brightz support team, they cheerfully sent a replacement, even though we were well out of warranty. It came in a few days and is now up and running. Nice job Brightz!

Works on a 20” wheel - on my e bike. - added some safety measures
Was skeptical when I bought these about them working on a smaller wheel and on an e-bike that obtains 20 plus mph speed. What I did do, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND is take your time in mounting them as tight to the wheel rim as possible and then use tie wraps every few inches to secure them further. (I needed to use extra tie wraps not supplied). I also took the battery controller and used the rubber straps to secure it to the spokes AND took several long tie wraps and secured it better. (This was one of the sticking points people mentioned in reviews about the straps breaking or loosening). By adding tie wraps I don’t have to worry they will break and result in disaster for me and the bike. I was also worried about cutting them to fit the shorter/smaller wheel, but this worked fine. I just made sure to cut after a light. I didn’t want to wrap excess throughout the tire like some suggested. I wanted a clean circle around the tire. Pros: Easy to install, being able to cycle through all colors or to stop on one color makes for endless choice and cool effect and you can change color to suit your mood every time your ride or stop the bike. Cons: Felt necessary to secure more than recommended with extra tie wraps, a bit hard to turn off and on when you have to reach through the spokes to find the push button. While securing it extra, it does make it more difficult when batteries need changing, but safety was first for me. Overall, it provides great light for dusk or night riding and great visibility of your bike on the road or trail, and boy do your look and feel cool! Buy them and have fun! All eyes will turn when you ride!

Great, if you get the real deal
I got these for my boyfriend. So I originally ordered these from Amazon marketplace and by comparing the box I got to the genuine box photos, it was pretty obvious that I received knockoffs. Amazon was really good about refunding my purchase after I complained. Unfortunately, it looks like these keep getting sold by a series of slightly sketchy importers, using shifting names, and I don't fully trust that anyone selling Wheel Brightz under this listing is selling the genuine article. So I bought a new set of Wheel Brightz from the manufacturer's website. I am super bad at mechanical stuff, but installation was OK. Maybe 15-20 minutes per wheel. I got the pink one, my boyfriend got the multi-color. They both look great. The multi-color version looks kind of ugly when you're stationary compared to the other, more uniform colors, but it's totally sick when you're actually on the bike in motion -- it's like having a little rainbow whipping around your rim. For thirty bucks you bring a lot of joy to the world -- we probably average one direct compliment for every 1-2 miles or so of biking, depending on pedestrian density (and I overhear a lot of people talking about the lights but not directly to us). Typical encounters: A little kid in Bernal Heights shouted "you have a cool bike!" from his front porch. A (probably slightly intoxicated) pedestrian in the Mission told my boyfriend he had the coolest bike in San Francisco and gave him a fist-bump. Another stranger shouted, "I like your Playa bike!" (this is not my Playa bike, although these lights would be perfect for Burning Man.) The lights are very bright and visible, although you still need to have standard front and rear lights, as the Wheel Brightz can't be seen from directly behind or in front of the bike. Update: A year later, I still haven't had to change the batteries! I have had to order one replacement power supply for my boyfriend's bike, though -- we hang our bikes vertically by the front wheel on wall-mounted hanging racks and over time, the power cord got caught between the wheel and the rack enough times that it frayed and wore through. (You can avoid this if you are reasonably careful when you hang up your bike and avoid crushing the power connector cable -- it just hadn't occurred to us that this would be a problem until the cable broke, so we didn't bother trying to avoid it.) More recently, a segment (about a quarter) of the lights on one of his wheels went out, although you can't tell when the bike is in motion. Again, this is probably caused by hanging the bike by the front wheel. Update II: I've gotten several more sets of these, and they're still great, but I notice that in some of the sets I've bought more recently, in the initial packaging, the battery pack is screwed on so tightly I've had to use an electric screwdriver to open it -- it would be nice if they could fix that and not over-tighten the screws! Update III: I recently brought a pair of these to Burning Man. I noticed on the Playa that of all the different lighting schemes people used for their bikes, Wheel Brightz were the brightest and most visible -- far better than EL wire or front and rear lights. If you are planning to go to Burning Man, I would recommend Wheel Brightz as an absolute must-have for your bike.

Straps broke. Both light ropes useless within 1 week
I got these for my bike at Burning Man in 2022. Loved the lights! So easy to install. The strap for attaching the battery pack was easy to use. The lights looked great. Yahoo. Went out for a ride. Unfortunately — the next morning when I looked at the bike, I found that the battery pack from the rear wheel was completely gone. It had completely fallen off the wheel. Lights were kaput. I used tape to reinforce the connection of the front wheel battery pack to the tire. That survived until almost the end of the week, when I noticed it fly off as I rode. Second set of lights useless. Admittedly the ground at Burning Man in 2022 was very washboard. Pretty much constant bouncing everywhere. I imagine that the bands were simply not up to that level of persistent jostling. Still after 10 days of use, less than 50 miles of riding, both lights are completely useless. Maybe these will work for gentle rides on smooth pavement, For anything harsher than that, they need serious help to keep the battery pack in place. I guess the best part of this story is that when the batter pack came loose, it broke the connecting wires and was flung away, rather than getting tangled in moving bike parts. I’d give this 5 stars for ease of use and coolness. But falling apart so fast - sorry, gotta give it 1 star. P.S. I see there are lots of complaints in recent reviews about the strap breaking. I wonder if the manufacturer changed the strap recently. Brightz, notice up! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update 8/19/23 - About 4 days after posting my original review we received an email from Brightz saying they wanted to make things right, and offering a replacement set of lights. I love the lights, so said yes. We’ve installed these on the bike. I noticed that the band for the battery pack is different than last year’s - very stiff, and more difficult to install. We also zip tied the battery pack to the spokes. Will make it more difficult to change batteries, but they’ll probably last the week, and I’m not interested in risking the lights just to find out if the new band is stronger than the old one. Did learn one thing - it’s important to install the battery pack right-side-up, with the light wires coming out toward the rim. Duh. We got it upside down on the front wheel. The connecting cord isn’t long enough to reach to the rim in this case. See picture. So for now we’re set. Brightz definitely gets credit for quick response. Increasing from 1 star to 2 for good customer support. Will report back again after Burning Man. Fingers crossed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Updated 9/13/23 Well, the good news is that with the addition of the zip ties, the lights and battery pack lasted all week. Sweet. As luck would have it, one night I noticed a piece of litter (i.e. “moop” - matter out of place) that turned out to be another WheelBrightz battery pack. This was Wednesday evening, when the playa was still very smooth. Looks like their battery pack strap still isn’t adequate. I’ve upgraded the rating to 4 stars - their customer service was good, I like the lights, and I’m OK adding zip ties. Not 5 stars because I still don’t trust their battery pack strap.

Great lights for the price and help keep bike riders safe at dusk or dark
Love these lights. Pretty simple and easy to install. They are more time consuming to install on 12in bikes because the tires are so small. But we use them on all our bikes for riding at night when we are camping. The kids love them. They help everyone see the kids at dark riding their bikes. For roughly 25 dollars for the pair, they are definitely worth the price compared to other brands. The lights last a long time on 1 set of batteries and do not require batteries often.

Beware: Major Point of Failure in Design
This product is expensive trash. Unless you modify it yourself after your purchase, you might as well throw your money away since it will quickly break. It would be solid were it not for its major point of failure in its design: the battery box mounting system. It completely ruins the product. Literally - the product exploded for me because of this design flaw. I read the reviews beforehand, so I knew that it was problematic for a lot of people. Namely, overly dense and overly sparse wheel spoke spacings do not work with the battery box. That cannot be stated enough because I thought I was fine having neither particularly dense nor sparse wheel spokes, but I was not. The working range of spoke spacing is apparently very small. It’s also just not a good design period, being not evenly remotely adaptable to more than a few spacings and not secure even with a spacing that “fits” the strap. A poor quality (rubber? silicone?) strap is bound to fail eventually. I was shocked that it was less than two minutes into use, but it was inevitable with that design choice. I was able to attach the battery box to my spokes, but it seems the connecting strap was too strained, with the bumps of the mildly cracked asphalt in front of my apartment proving too much for it to handle. Choose a wider strap loop meant it wasn’t secure either, though, being too loose. Because the strap was too strained the box exploded off my bike and onto the road. Th box ripped from the light so there’s no way to fix it. It did not last even two minutes, and with it being daytime, I never even got to use the lights outside at night. Also, the lights were rather dim. For three double A batteries a strand, they should either last longer than 48 hours or be brighter. Maybe they do last longer than 48, but I wouldn’t know since again the box exploded off my wheel. This would be fine if everything else was good in the design, but the battery box issues completely ruins the product. I could only recommend you get this product if your wheel spacing is about as wide as the box. Then, it likely would be secure enough. If you create your own mounting system, you’d also probably be fine, but you’d have to work with what’s there and there’s not much good to secure the box with besides the bars? nubs? that secure the provided strap, so it’d take more than a few minutes and quite a bit of cleverness, especially if you have rather widely spaced wheel spokes. Image: the battery box on the road after exploding off my bike's back wheel - I had not installed the front lights yet and probably won't after this

Nice but defective
Great I love them but the seals on the boxes are not great. We got caught in a rain storm and bikes never went under water and water had entered the boxes. As you can see the front green one doesn’t work. Rear flickers but the center one works fine. As for the white ones. The center no longer works. Water entered the box. Back lights are fading away like the batteries are dying but I just changed them with greasy one and that how they are now. I want to get them replaced and I’ll have to seal the boxes with a silicone of sorts.
