Happy City is a delightful building card game by Gamewright, designed for players aged 10 and up. In this engaging game, you take on the role of a mayor, buying and selling properties, attracting residents, and managing resources to create the happiest mini-metropolis. Very light game! Cute and fun.
This is a very light, cute game. Players use income to purchase buildings to place in their own happy cities. Building choices generate more income so players have better options. Played this incorrectly the first few times. The rule book could be clearer. Watched a play-through on YouTube to clarify. The building supply can only have up to 3 cards at a time. Have played with a college student, my grandkids, and their families. This will continue to be a great game for the kids and will teach them a bit about engine-building so they can grasp more complicated games later. Besides the rule book, games seems to end too quickly. Once a player has 10 buildings in their city, the round is finished and the game is over. Have not played with the optional “expert” bonus building deck yet. Overall, an enjoyable family-weight game that is easy for younger children to play but is interesting enough that adults will enjoy playing it as well. Looks a lot like Machi Koro but simpler. I love Gamewright games!

Great light game for adults and kids!
We love this game! My 8 year old and the adults we've played have all had fun. It's light enough that it's easy to teach but still requires strategy (and some luck as well). The expert bonus cards will take it to the next level to keep it interesting. The artwork is really cute and fun to look at. Game play is about 20-30 minutes depending on how many players. The only complaints I have are:-Duplicate cardsSometimes you get 2 of the same card out at the same time which is annoying when you only get 3 out at a time. I wish there was a little more variety.-Tiny cardsCards are tiny and hard to shuffle and pick up off the table (but for under $20 I can deal with it). I recognize the small card sizes are necessary when you've got a bunch in front of you.-Starting moneySometimes we have games where the first few cards require 3 or more coins to buy but you only start with 2. This is easily remedied by starting with 3 coins instead. If you play with 2 you can still do it, it just makes the first couple rounds more difficult.Overall this is a great light game that is good for adults and kids looking to transition to more strategic games but still have some element of luck to it. Highly recommend.

Addicting little game with high strategy
This game is simple to learn but has many layers of decision making and strategy. It will please casual gamers as well as seasoned veterans. And, it is a fairly quick game with a small footprint. There is also a great deal of replayability inherent in it due to the fact that there are a variety of bonus cards and a few different ways to play the game.I am hoping that expansions will be part of this game's future. I am personally addicted to it and it plays just as well with two players as 4. As a matter of fact, it really requires different strategies with varying numbers of players. No doubt, this is an inexpensive gem amidst a sea of board games. You won't be dissappointed if you make this purchase.

Reminded me of Splendor.
Really fun game. the mechanics are similar to splendor but with the limitation, that there are only ever 3 cards on the market at anytime (outside of a few specialty or base cards). It was easy enough that even my 6yr old a handle on the mechanics (He may not be able to do the multipcation, but understands he needs both hearts AND people, and has even won some games).I like that there is a growing mechanics so you can strip down the game for younger players or add/ change a few easy components and/or rules and it is more suitable for Older Gamers, and definitely something the whole family could play. I wish more games were like that (without having to buy the kids version vs the adult version). The game/card quality is good, I think I would have preferred plastic tokens, but whatever. Either way for what you Pay vs what you get there is a high count of Value and replayability, and I highly recommend it, whether it's for yourself or as a gift to someone.

Enjoyable family game at an excellent price
I tried this game first at Board game arena and I thought this would be great to play it with my kids, plus I was enamored by the design of the buildings. Another plus is that the cards have the names of the buildings, because I don't like generic cards without names. The price was only $15 ! so I added to some other games.I have played it now with my daughter and she likes it very much.It is fast (15min max for 2 players). Very easy to understand, yet enough decisions to keep adults interested.

Excellent little game
This game is an excellent addition to my collection. Simple, fun, and has room for more in-depth play. With players who know strategy games well, the score is very close and nearly a tie each game. Well worth the inexpensive cost.

Great family game
We are loving this game! I bought it rather randomly for my daughter who us 10 and likes building games, legos, toca life, Roblox...There's a quick version, a regular version, and an expert version. Easy set up, easy play. It says 2 to 5 players, but 5 is too many in my opinion.Even the adults enjoyed it and literally anyone can win. We don't let the kids win, they just do.Highly recommend!

Simple but high replyability
Excellent replayability. Good for soft opening with friends. The game requires balance of cards to win. Richness can't buy happiness and win the game. Your population has to grow and be happy!

Great game to play with kids
You can almost never go wrong with a game by Gamewright. Great playability. Delightful artwork. Happy City has a simple set up and can be played with kids or adults. For older kids and adults there is an element of strategy in terms of stopping people from getting what they really want as they collect their 10 buildings. And there is a sufficient range of bonus cards to ensure game play does not get too repetitive. Well worth a look.
