Damien Hirst: Cherry Blossoms

The outside of the book is stunning but the one I received came without a seal and it had dirt stains on it. As for the book, the outside it very pretty but inside is boring. I am mainly purchasing it as a coffee table book.

Some reviewers have complained about this book being "repetitive" -- it certainly is, if you see page after page of abstract forms of "cherry blossoms" (which this largely is).But if you're looking for a meditation on a subject with an exquisite form at a reasonable price, I just really don't see how you could do better. This book is amazing.Everything here has been done thoughtfully - and the editor/publisher managed not to screw it up. This is unlike many books from Taschen or Phaidon both of whom have let me down recently by destroying art with their publishing habits -- taking a beautiful piece and spanning it across pages instead of putting it in a proper form or etc. There's none of that here. What's more: each print is nearly blank on the back -- some may complain about this -- I'm in love with this choice. The pages separating sections - the text in those intermissions - everything about this book is fantastic. Every mistake lesser publishers make is avoided here, in my view.Just... couldn't be happier. But yes, you must be interested in cherry blossoms or Hirst to enjoy this...
