Worked great for 99 days, then …
I don’t usually give bad reviews because I try to be open minded and usually have good results from products that last for years beyond their warranty. However, this is a mixed review because: 1) I realize this is a budget wheel at only $96 for such a quality made device with pedals and 2) it still works great for arcade racing games or if you don’t turn it beyond than 180 degrees left or right. I didn’t notice that it only had a 90-day warranty until I found the Hori website to get help with what was obviously a hardware problem. Their website made the 90-day warranty painfully clear and their response to my email, although prompt, has been one to suggested problems with the gaming console as if there’s nothing wrong with the wheel itself. The problem is that the optional Quick Handling Mode which is designed to reduce the steering range from 270 degrees to 180 degrees, has suddenly started working by default and cannot be turned-off. If I follow the steps to turn it on, it triggers at 45 degrees instead of 90 like it is supposed to! This maybe fine on a racing game but on ATS (American Truck Simulator), it’s extremely difficult when the wheels jump from 50% to 100% instantly then back to 50% with just a slight movement beyond 90 degrees to the left or right! It’s not a linear 180 degrees movement from edge-to-edge.Not exaggerating, I’ve probably spent hours researching the problem (thinking it was the game) and adjusting the many settings in ATS to know avail. I’ve tried changing the USB port, etc. to no avail.Like most have said, the pedals don’t stay in place so I put two short nails in the holes at the bottom front of the base then Velcro at the bottom of the heel plate then placed it on a rubber backed floor mat to keep it from sliding forward. The pedals are also at a crazy steep angle so I taped a book to the bottom of the heel plate to raise it up thus reducing the angle of the pedals. I really like the two buttons in the wheel, a convenience I have not seen on any other wheel but the new problem is a deal breaker!Update 2022/12/30 - After purchasing another wheel from well-known, trusted brand, I discovered the same problem. After requesting help from the game developers, it turned out to be a setting that I was not aware of so I've changed my review to 5 stars since everything else about the Hori wheel was really great, especially for the price. I'm going to keep it for use with my PS4 since the new wheel has more features that are compatible with PCs.

Great Racing Wheel, Great Price!
I recently bought GT sport. After playing the VR mode (which is INCREDIBLE) I realized the only way to get the fully immersive experience was to pick up a racing wheel. I was so excited I rushed to the computer, hopped on Amazon and was about to spend $300+. Then as I saw the total on the checkout page I sobered up from this strange video game accessory blackout and realized.... I'M ABOUT TO SPEND MORE THAN THE PRICE OF MY CONSOLE ON A PERIPHERAL. I checked out some of my other options and found only two in the $99 range. The other was another official Sony Licensed Product, but had no force feedback. So I chose the HORI Racing Wheel Apex. Let me tell you that I could not be more satisfied with this purchase !!! The wheel handles beautifully. It has a very high quality look and feel to it, and it performs very smoothly. The force feedback isn't the best, but it more than does the trick for the price range! Pedals are responsive and feature accurate sensitivity. Worked immediately with no hassle hooking it up. I used the clamp to mount it to a snack tray and it works just great for the experience. Now when I put on my VR headset and grab this wheel... I swear it feels like I'm really in the cockpit of a high speed race car. Simply amazing. If you're in the market for a racing wheel and don't want to break the bank... this should be your choice. I'm certainly glad that I went this route and saved myself a few hundred bucks.

Pretty solid for the price
Don't expect a very fleshed out racing sim experience off this setup. That being said, it does well enough for what it is.For context I'm mainly using this on PC under Linux. In this context it is recognized as a generic controller, with wheel turning and pedals registered properly as analogue axis. Out of the box it might not feel great depending on the game, but once you read the manual and understand how to adjust sensitivity, deadzone, and rebinding buttons, it is easy to adjust based on what you're using it for. There is an issue where some buttons might be duplicated (paddle shifters are also detected as R1 and L1, with a second set of R/L1 buttons on the front of the wheel) but this can be solved per-game by reassigning duplicate buttons so they can be used for other functions. Some other reviews make it seem pretty difficult to adjust but it really is a straightforward system of pressing/holding the assign button and pressing or holding the button or axis you are changing.Build quality is solid enough with a nice rubberized texture on the wheel and responsive buttons. The d-pad is a bit mushy, however. The paddle shifters feel a bit flimsy on first impression but are satisfying to click. The mounting hardware didn't give me the same issues that others seem to be having. I opted for the clamp rather than suction cups, and once you tighten it well enough the wheel won't move at all until you really start thrashing on turns. Even then, it doesn't fly off the desk or anything. Might just need a little nudge back into place. The pedals aren't great but the wheel itself makes up for it considering the price. I believe you are able to use other pedals with it too, so that could be a minor upgrade later on. They do slide around a bit, so I'd recommend putting something heavy behind them to stop from sliding forward. The flip-out extension for them gives a decent spot to rest your heel with the weight of your foot doing a bit to prevent sliding when moving between brake and gas pedals.Overall it does what it's supposed to for my use case. Steering wheel feels nice enough, pedals do the trick, and I've easily gotten used to quickly adjusting settings on the hardware depending on game. Just don't expect fancy force feedback or 1:1 pedal input.
