Run, Rose, Run: A Novel

Overall a pleasant read and I really enjoyed the first half of the book!
This was a different book for me to read. We get the story of Rose/AnnieLee and her path to being a famous country star. You can tell while reading that Dolly had a lot of input on how music industry is described, the sparkles and glamour of some stars and the songs that AnnieLee comes up with. Dolly didn’t hold back and we even get quite a bit of the bad untold side of the music industry. I enjoyed listening to Dolly’s album based on songs form the book. My main issue is that we don’t get enough background story to make the thriller parts seem like an actual issue. I just think without some of Annielee’s backstory I didn’t care too much about her getting hurt or being stalked because it didn’t make much sense. My favorite character was 100% the side character Ruthana, who was actually the most developed.

Amazing!
This book rolled faster and faster with every turn of a page. I literally could not put it down. A mystery, a love story, a possible biography of someone's life. Who knows! But it was very good. Definitely recommend.

Wow!!
Dynamic plot, fantastic character development. I could feel the characters come to life! It was a thriller but not one that came back to me in my dreams with me as the victim. It was original, clean and I LOVED it.

Great story
This book had everything. Didn't want to stop reading. James Patterson didn't disappoint, will be another best seller. Dolly Partons County music ideas and knowledge, made story come alive. Thank you both!

Country Songs
An interesting story about a young woman who arrives in Nashville full of determination to become a country music star. She is a good singer who is able to write her own songs. The only problem is that she's running from her previous life.

Good read
I chose a 4 star rating because the first few chapters were a little slow. It got much better as I read, and the last few chapters were very engaging. The only thing I would change is the unbelievable part of her falling 4 stories through a glass ceiling and not being terribly hurt.I would recommend this book.

Not What I Had Expected!🤔🎙🎶🎵❤️🩹
A 4 Star Read. 🌟I was expecting much more of this storyline to be suspenseful and thriller related. That might have been my own fault.🤷🏻♀️ However, I did end up really invested in the life and love of Ethan and AnnieLee. They were both flawed but very likeable and relatable character’s. She was much more guarded than him and very late in this book, we discover exactly why!💥The retired songtress, RuthieAnne, who took Ethan and then AnnieLee under her wing, was a delight. She was vulnerable but hardened. Her past had scarred her to the point she retired. She still wrote and recorded her music in her own studio. It was for her though, not the world. AnnieLee was the breath of fresh air they all needed. AnnieLees' secrets were held tight though. They all just had to hope they wouldn’t matter in the long run.🙏🌹I felt this book was probably steered more by the storyline of the great country music legend, Dolly Parton, than by the actual book writer, James Patterson. I do wish, however, that he’d put more of his skilled spins and twists into the storyline as well. I think it would’ve elevated the story to another level. I did love what felt like the ‘behind the scenes’ look that I felt we were treated to, and you could never accuse Dolly Parton of not telling good stories.😉 But that's also why we read James Patterson, where was his input?🤔It was definitely enjoyable but it missed the mark a bit, for me.🥺Debbie, 1970, UK

Wanted to love this
Really hoped this would be great as I love James Pattersons books and also think Dolly Parton is great, the characters were good and was a nice read but not really much going on in the story, would have liked more thriller going on, seemed to have got almost to the end before anything happened but it was still an enjoyable read
