From the picture it appears the pencils are fairly tightly packed in the tin. How difficult is it to pick up an individual pencil?

That depends. Are you likely to take them with you while you ski or snowboard? I've found these pencils incredibly difficult to get out of the tin while wearing ski gloves.

If I select the 'hard' group, what pencil set do I get?

I believe that the Graphic Hard Set contains B, HB, F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, 7H, 8H, and 9H, these pencils (F-9H) have graphite/lead that is of a harder consistency for making finer/crisp lines. Great for fine lines, cross hatching, mechanical, and architectural drawings.

Is this actually the new version in the exact tin shown in the pictures? Are the letters white or silver on the pencils themselves?

I got this set last year and it was exactly as pictured. The letters are silver.

I counted 20 from 9b to 9h, how is there 24? what am i missing?
