Best mirror for sculling. Dedicate a cap to it.
This mirror is is perfect for sculling (rowing) when you are in a single or bowing a blind boat. If this doesn't sound like you, then this might be the wrong mirror for you. It looks strange, is difficult to adjust and will break if you bend the wire too often. But for sculling, it works perfectly if you follow the tips below.Tips:- Dedicate a cap to this mirror. Attach and adjust it and then never take it off the hat. It fits very tightly on some brims and that is what you want. No need to pry the clip open...just shove it on with force.- Do not bend the wire too much or often, especially where it attaches to the plastic parts. Make only gentle bends or it will break.**If you do these things, then the mirror will be right where you need it every time you row.**

The instructions say that you might need to "Use a screwdriver or similar item to open clip."
This item works great and is just as described. I use it for hunting. I am always amazed at some of the negative reviews I read. I have even seen people give a one star because they purchased the wrong item. What does that have to do with the quality of the item you received? Some people said this mirror was very difficult to attach to a cap because of the tight fit. Some even returned it. My first thought before making the purchase was that I could use a screwdriver to widen the clip. After receiving the item, I read the instructions which say "It might take some force, as it is designed to be a tight fit" and it recommend using a screwdriver. People also complained that it was not a rectangular mirror like a car mirror. If you look at things through the mirror instead of looking at the mirror, you won't notice it is round. II see the horizontal tree line along a field perfectly. When have you ever seen a rectangular gun scope, telescope, or binoculars? Our eyes are round as are the pupil, lens, and retina. In fact, the earth is round. So, don't expect things to just work perfectly right out of the box with no effort and be just like you expect it to be. It is what it is. Most items require some assembly and setup. This item requires some basic skills to attach the mirror to a cap and bend the arm to adjust it. It is easy and took about 30 seconds. It is very well constructed (for what it is), well worth the money, and should last a long time.

Adjust and test early so you can return it if it breaks
Quality seems mixed - the one I bought a couple of years ago is still going strong despite being used and adjusted multiple times a week. The one I bought for my bike helmet broke after a couple of adjustments, the metal arm fractured inside the plastic attachment. When it’s not broken it works great!

Unable to clip
I could not get the clip to open to clip on visor. Hence, I cannot use it.

Good Quality Mirror
I recently purchased this since my old system (Wintek and Headsweats cap) was wearing out. The quality of the mirror is excellent and it does the job. I do think a little more field of view would be available with a square mirror but this is a minor point. Placing the mirror closer increases the field too. I agree with the use of heat to apply the mirror. Running some near boiling water over it for a few seconds made it easy to get on. The overall quality is good, the weak point would be the limited life of the wire but with a little care this should not have to changed often. I will buy again and do recommend it. I see more detail than ever before but don't forget to sweep side to side to see that traffic coming at right angles to your course!

Works for me.
When I first opened the package, I was disappointed by the cheap look to the product. It looked home-made. It looked like the raw materials for the product cost maybe fifty cents. However, appearances aside, I've been impressed by the functionality of the mirror.I walk quite a bit (50 to 100 miles a week) and wanted something to keep track of runners and bicyclists that sometimes come zooming by on the sidewalk. I also wanted to keep tabs on cars approaching from the rear (very helpful on narrow roadways with no shoulders). Before I bought it, I was worried that the mirror would constantly need to be adjusted. That has not been the case, once adjusted it tends to remain stable. It doesn't creep downward.I was worried that the clip portion of the product would be too loose or too tight. I found that the clip securely attached to the bill of my cap. No wobbles. No coming loose with use. Stays firmly in place. Very good!I was worried that the image would be too small. That, too, has not been a problem. The field of vision is sufficient to keep track of the things that I'm concerned about.I was worried that the mirror would obscure my direct line-of-sight and create a "blind spot". That has not been a problem at all. While vision is obscured by the near eye (the eye closest to the mirror), the opposite eye continues to see quite clearly.I was worried that the mirror would vibrate too much while walking. While the image from the mirror does bounce because of my gait, it is sufficiently clear to keep track of approaching objects. I can only imagine how much more useful it would be while rowing or while bicycling, where head movement is much less.I'm very happy with my purchase. I can effortlessly keep track of runners, bicyclists and cars behind me. When crossing busy roadways, I only need to look in one direction, keeping track of opposing traffic in the mirror. (However, I always look in the opposite direction before crossing - as a precaution.) I feel much more secure. And for every odd glance that someone has given me, I've gotten any number of compliments on the rear view mirror.Note: One of the dilemmas facing me when I first started using the mirror was which side I should place it on my cap. Well, for my purposes, installing it on the left side of the bill of the cap has worked out the best. When walking on the left side of a two-lane roadway, the lane of traffic closest to me is approaching me head-on, so I really don't have too great a need for a mirror at that time. When walking on the right side of the roadway, the lane of traffic closest to me (on my left) is coming up on me from the rear. That is when I need the mirror the most. That is why I find placing the rear mirror on the left side of the cap to work the best for me.

Not worth it.
Sorry I purchased. Good mirror size but virtually impossible to get on hat brim.
