Review: 素晴しい本！ 但し文学英語の苦手な私には甘い本でなかった。 - 改訂：2014/2/2 本書はGraduate向けGRの教科書で、米国desertcart.comでZee(大著)と共に最も人気のある本。評価は本書の方が高い。（予備知識は特殊相対論、Lagrange力学、電磁気学、線形代数。） 人気があり図も多く懇切丁寧な本なので易しい本と思っていたが、実際に読んでみると小生にとって甘い本ではなかった。（ch.6以降は理解とはほど遠い状況） 文章による説明が多くこれが英語圏での人気の秘密と思われますが、逆に小生のような文学英語の苦手な者にとって難しい。 表題通り、GRそのものよりGEOMETRY(ch.2、3、付録）、SPACETIME(ch.5〜ch.9）に重点を置いてます。特にGEOMETRYは懇切丁寧でこれだけで1冊の立派な本になる。 素晴しい本なので翻訳書（練習問題の解答付の）が出版される事を期待してます。 「なか見！検索」が無いので目次と感想を下記に載せます。 Ch.1 特殊相対論と平坦な時空 （特殊相対論の復習、Tensor代数の初歩、場の古典論の短い議論） Ch.2 多様体 （数学的枠組。次章も） Ch.3 曲率 → Ch.2とCh.3ではﾃｸﾆｯｸや重要な概念その他のﾄﾋﾟｯｸｽを付録に回して、本文（約100頁）をすっきりさせてます。 Ch.4 重力 （一般相対論の導入） → 場の方程式を通常の方法と変分法の2通りの方法で”導出”してます。最終節ではGR以外の重力理論にも触れてます。この辺りから急に難しくなります。 Ch.5〜Ch.9はGRの3大応用（ﾌﾞﾗｯｸﾎｰﾙ、摂動論と重力波、宇宙論） Ch.5 Schwarzschird解 → Schwarzschird解を通常の方法とBirkhoffの定理の2通りの方法で導出してます。Kruskal座標についても詳細に説明してます。比較的分り易い章 Ch.6 より一般的なBlack hole → 再び、難解になります。挫折しそうになりましたが、構わず読み続けました。 Ch.7 摂動論と重力波 → 重力波の検出についての最新の話題に触れてます。 Ch.8 宇宙論 → 最新の話題に触れてます。 文章による説明が多く、ﾜｲﾝﾊﾞｰｸﾞ「宇宙論（上)」（日本評論社）の方が分り易い。 Ch.9 曲った空間の場の量子論 （Hawking効果とﾌﾞﾗｯｸﾎｰﾙの蒸発の理解が目的。） → 最後の2節は文章による説明が多く分りにくいが最初の4節は数式主体なので分り易い。 付録A〜J （微分幾何学の補足） → ”読まなければならない”付録。 「付録H Conformal Diagram」は本文の理解に不可欠。（付録A〜Gも本文及び付録Hを理解するために読まなければならない）
