kids can’t get enough of this book
Read it with my 7-year-old twin nephews, and they are obsessed. The pictures are super detailed, and they have been reading it over and over again.

Cute, imaginative boom with awesome illustrations
This is my 6-year-old's favorite book! After checking it out from the library too many times to count I decided to buy her a copy of her own. It's a cute, imaginative story that has a comic sort of feel. The illustrations are vibrant and fun. I enjoy reading it almost as much as she does! My only recommendation is to go for the hardcover rather than the paperback. It's a large book and it could easily get bent or torn.

Fantastic Illustrations
My 3 year-old daughter received this book today and absolutely loves it. There's so much to look at on many of the pages and she has a great time pointing out all of the details. The illustrations are very nicely done and remind me a lot of Adventure Time. Highly recommended and we'll check out other books by the same author.

Kids love it
My three-year-old loves this book. I’ve never seen him this fascinated with a book. I’m not suprised that it won an award for best children’s book that was voted on by children. Most of the children’s books that I pick up for my son are dreadfully boring. The authors are so focused on pushing a lesson that fun becomes an afterthought. Thank you for not falling into that trap, Matty. This is a great book for parents who want to encourage imagination. My son and I spend a lot of time talking to the characters in this book. He’s had quite a few discussions with the old oak about stealing.

Our whole family enjoys these books!
My family has so much fun reading all of these books together. My daughter started enjoying them around age four and just appreciates them more and more as she gets older. We discovered this series at the library and loved the books so much we bought our own copies. Plus I couldn’t find Super Frozen Magic Forest at the library. Thanks Mr. Long!

If you love the fantasy genre you will love reading this book to your kids!!
Just love it! Tons of fun things to discover on every page. And even if you aren't into fantasy books, it is still really cute and your kids will love it!An aside . . . you can use this book to launch other fun activities. My six year old and I are trying to make a fairy/gnome garden with all the characters.

My kids (7,6, & 4) LOVE it
Unlike other reviewers' kids, my kids DID understand the story and loved it with all of the speech bubbles and dark parts. My kids are easily afraid of scary things. This book did not scare them at all. They felt inspired to draw and create their own outrageous quest stories. We read it with over the top character voices and laughed at all of the wonderful expressions on the characters' faces! Great book!

Loved by Father and Son
I love reading this book to my son. I think we first found it in the library when he was 5 or so, and have continued to read it even as he's pushing 8.It's a fun silly tale, telling the fate of 5 unlikely heroes. My son's favorite is Trevor, the mushroom. We love how each page is full of exciting and funny background details.

Five Stars
The tagline reads: Five brave heroes. One epic quest! And that’s exactly what you get with Super Happy Magic Forest by Matty Long.Join Blossom, the unicorn, Twinkle, the fairy, Herbert, the gnome, Hoffius, the faun and Trevor… the mushroom, as they go on an epic quest to find the stolen Mystical Crystals of Life. The intrepid team travel through icy mountains, burning hot deserts and cold, dark dungeons in order to save their beloved Super Happy Magic Forest. And if this story sounds like it’s bonkers, that’s because it IS.Matty Long has dug deep into his magical imagination to create a world where every page delights the senses and makes you wonder what craziness is going to appear on the next page. It’s a super happy wonder of a book, and has been shortlisted for the 2016 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, so HOORAY!We’re currently a bit lost as to what book you might like if you like this. Maybe some of the cheery Adventure Time Comics? Or there’s a sequel out soon, if you can wait!

Super Happy Little Chappy
this is ideal for a 3 year old for general story time. it isn't quite as ideal for a bedtime story as it feels more of a comic than a story so this encouraged my little boy to want to sit up and look at the highly detailed pictures aswell. there was nothing wrong with this overall but just much better for a sofa time book.the book itself is very fun, as an adult i found it very funny and i like the little hints at real life/movie characters as the story definitely reminds you of stuff you have seen before and very entertaining for kids to read as the pictures help create more story than what is written. highly recommended

My three year old has had a great time reading this though I think it actually skews a little older. The artwork is cute, funny and appealing to the curious eyes of pre-schoolers but some of the humour and references might require a bit more experience to be fully appreciated. The story is ok but works best when you put a little work in to explain the pictures. A lot of action happens with no explanation through the written narrative or minimal dialogue. It's a great way of feeding the imagination but if you are looking for a simple read this is mostly told through the fantastic art. If you enjoy the picture books of Ben Hatke, you'll love this!

Super Happy Kids!
Imagine The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings but in a picture book with marshmallow-loving unicorns and a band of inept heroes and you have Super Happy Magic Forest. The children I read this to at school loved the book and it's always out on loan. I love it too - it's like the author was on some kind of acid trip when he wrote it. Makes everyone laugh at the sheer absurdity of the plot. Fantastic.

Dungeons and Dragons for the CBeebies set
Our five- and three-year-olds adore this book and (its equally barmy sequel Super Happy Magic Forest: Slug of Doom) so much that we foist copies gleefully on friends' kids for their birthdays. It's kind of Dungeons and Dragons for the CBeebies set, with bubblegum colours, pages bursting with treasures to discover, and a generous helping of dry humour to string along the adult who reads it aloud. Can't wait for the third installment in the series this year.
