Learning Resources LER4298 Wood Geometric Solids, Set Of 19

I got these to use as reference shapes for practicing still life and perspective drawings. They're all a good size to be able to get up a small still life scene on my desk. All of the pieces have smooth surfaces, so I'm not worried about a random splinter. The wood is nice and hard, so I imagine I'll be able to keep these for quite a long time.

I received it today. They look as perfect as the photo depicts.Only time and child play will show the durability and sturdiness.I'm not entirely convinced they should be priced as high as they are (around $30 at time of purchase), but they appear to be of really good quality. If the shapes last through several stages of education, it will have been worth it.The texture feel like real wood, so I assume a child's senses can also pick up on that.I look forward to keeping them around until the children are in geometry.

We use these awesome wooden shapes to teach solid shapes in our homeschooling class as well as using them for our drawing classes to teach 3D methods with graduated shading. Perfect size in a nice container. Great wood, smoothly sanded and nice grain. Recommended for any classroom!

As a homeschooling family I am always looking for manipulatives that can better help my kids grasp concepts and solidify information. We (my kids and myself) had been having trouble remembering the names of certain geometric shapes so I set about to find something to help. These fit the bill. I tend to gravitate toward Montessori style materials, but because they can be on the pricey side it's great when I can find a more affordable alternative. I made some 3-part cards (flash cards) to be used alongside the solids.I'd probably lean more towards 4 1/2 stars.-As others have stated it would have been nice to have a 'cheat sheet' included in the bucket listing the proper names of each shape. I was able to find a list in the description on the actual Learning Resources website, and it was easy to figure out which was which from that, but of course it took a bit more time. (as a side- on the list LR gives, they list one of the prisms as an obtuse triangular prism. while I didn't measure it, visually it resembles more of a right triangular prism)-The wood seems a bit fragile. If the kids aren't careful with them the corners and points seem like they would chip off easily. As others have noted, some of the shapes do have pointed edges/corners- in my opinion that should be expected based on the shape. For example, I would expect that a pyramid has pointed vertices (corners). They are listed for ages 6+ and are age appropriate.

I bought these for drawing exercises. However, my biggest complaint was in the way they were packaged for shipment. I feel lucky they made it without falling out of their box, as the tape wasn't fully adhered to the box material.

I bought these to have geometric shapes for my drawing class and they are great. I thought I would find them to be a little too small, but they have worked fine. The container comes with every shape I could have wanted, and at a much better price than all of the other options I searched for. I am pleased with the purchase.

I read some of the reviews saying they were small and unfinished and I like to say they are child-sized and natural !! LOLIf your into montessori I thought this was a great set to discuss 3-d with my 20 month old daughter. Sure there are better sets and yeah check he price tag $80 Whew !! I Like those sets cause they come with cards and things and they may be a little more finished but if your not opposed to creating your own cards and adding a little beeswax polish Well I think they are a great little set ^_^ !! Soo I almost said 4 stars but honestly for the Price point of $20 for 19 shapes I'm pretty happy and my daughter takes them out and plays with them often Soo Fun times and Sure we will get plenty of use out of them

I use these in my nursery and the children loved holding the shapes. Only thing that I would suggest is to include a list of the shapes names. You will know most of them but, some I had to look up on the internet.
