Nice quality.
Purchased this as well as the extended version and added the "feet" to it for stability to separate two five month old puppies (a Labradoodle and Great Dane) They just look at each other longingly! The feet totally stabilize it, and it spans larger than a normal door opening. At first I put part of it behind a bookshelf in case the dogs jumped on it but they immediately learned that it was pointless to try to get through, and they just sit by it and wish. The hinges on it are unique in that they allow the bend to go either direction. The wood is very solid and the feet fit snuggly with felts to cushion. I'd highly recommend this gate AND the feet, though the latter aren't necessary, just a better stability.

Best quality dog gate I found on Amazon!
I’m so impressed by the appearance, function, & quality of this dog gate. I’m thrilled I bought another for a second staircase. My newly blind dog pushed past my temporary barricade & fell down the flight of stairs in the photos. Been using a big box to keep him off stairs. Was a pain to move the box with me carrying him upstairs. This swings easily to open & close. It’s so safe, I can rest easy when I’m out & he’s home. My gate is attached to bannister by zip ties. But the extra wall bolts were appreciated & equally of nice quality. Amazon delivered in a day &, as always, left it safely behind my front gate. Don’t hesitate on buying this. It’s well-made, sturdy, & works perfectly for my Cairn Terrier.

Wish it hadn't arrived broken!
This gate is perfect for what I wanted - an attractive, real wood gate with narrow rail gapes and decent height. This was purchased to allow airflow while keeping my cats out of the dining room and was immediately tested by them and worked. It would not be heavy enough on it's own to keep a dog or toddler out who would not be afraid to knock it down. Kittens and puppies could probably make it through the rails. It came with extra hinges and screws though no assembly was needed. Unfortunately, it arrived broken, probably because it was laid flat and had something stacked on top of it in transit or storage. Otherwise, the finish and quality of wood is quite nice - not composite, pressed wood fiber.I have put in for an exchange with no issues and will update with the condition of the replacement gate.

Attractive and effective
I got this extension piece to keep my dog from getting at a low open shelf (with paper and envelopes, etc, that he would gladly chew). It's very effective - he hasn't even tried to move it. I've also tried it a couple of times blocking off the door to a room when I don't want him to come in, but want to let him see me while I'm in there. It worked great at that too. I had it wedged in the doorway - the double jointed hinges make it easy to experiment with angles and placement. Even though he batted at it a couple of times he didn't succeed in knocking it over or moving it and he soon gave up. It looks much nicer than most dog gates and though it's sturdy, it's not too heavy or bulky to move around.

Sturdy and Wide for a Two-Panel Free Standing Gate
I wondered if I needed the stabilizing feet for this gate depending on how thick it was. I was happy to know I didn't have to spend about $20 more to buy the stabilizing feet as it is a sturdy gate that has a perfect thickness. The wood seems a nice density and weight (not too heavy, not too light and cheap feeling). It stands up especially at a slight angle perfectly, free standing, and doesn't fall over unless you push on it or kick it over. The hinges seem durable and well made...has good tension to stay at whatever position you bend them at.It's beautiful. The panels are extra wide, and the two panels are perfect for covering the bottom of my stairs and divide the kitchen area from my living area. It is also much classier looking than our old tension gates. It is also low enough to easily step over. My kids have no problem stepping over it to get to the stairs. The gate is lightweight while being durable, and allows us to fold up and move from place to place easily. I can now keep our dog in place, and not nick up wall paint installing gates or leaning them against the wall so they won't fall!I got this to keep my medium sized puppy off the stairs and the upstairs. She has only knocked over gates on accident, and the noise scared her. This could probably be knocked over by any medium to larger dog that wants to get through and isn't scared, and can probably be jumped over as it is lower than the high gates. But for my dog, who is too scared to push through or jump over, this gate is the perfect height because it keeps her away from the forbidden areas, and we can step over it without having to move it.Am fully happy with the gate and vendor (got it in 1 day), was well packaged and in good condition.

I love them. I hung them from Command hooks.
I purchased only 2 sets of extensions, not the whole kit with door. and hung them using Command hooks placed on the woodwork at the side of two doors. This approach won't put holes in my beautiful wood door frames and makes them really easy to raise up a bit and set them aside. I use them in an area where I feed stray animals of any type and this prevents them from going into areas in which I don't want them. It won't keep out a determined, large dog and a cat could probably jump over it, but I've had no problems of this sort.

Good for small opening
Bought it used to pair with another extension kit, both at opposite ends of a spiral staircase. If you have a destructive pet, it might be destroyed quickly, as the bars are slim and wooden, but works great for a smaller opening. The gate latch does feel cheap and easy to unscrew, as well as the gate being a bit wiggly. If you are aware and attentive, it should be fine.A word of cautionWhether In a doorway or either end of the stairs, look out for the base of the panel with the gate. This may be a hazard for the individual prone to tripping or stubbed toes, especially those for whom a fall may pose a greater risk for injury.

Great freestanding gate
If you're wondering if it stands on its own -- it does! This is a beautiful gate that adds a touch of class to forbidden rooms/staircases. The hinge makes it easy to swivel open and closed. It isn't the strongest gate -- a bigger dog (or curious child) could knock it down or move it. However, for smaller, less curious dogs, it's an ideal way to block off a doorway.

It does the job.
It’s sturdy and is used at the bottom of the stairs in a v shape position blocking the dog from trying to go upstairs. The v shape placement allows us to step down off the last step without trying to climb over a gate type barrier. It would be nice to have it in neutral colour or white as well.
