I have had one of these tools now for yesrs...then after several I had to replace the old one.....Exact replacement..... These are just sooo handy if you start plants from seed....later you can precession plant your seedlings in rows or in the garden real fast...just push in the ground..roll it around to open the hole as large as you need...Drop in the little plant and close the hole, if your planting bulbs.... Just roll it around and deeper..... Smaller bulbs are very easy to plant fast too... Exactly where the plant needs to be... .......... This would make a great. Great gift for a gardener.... Follow up 02 Nov 2017......after a season of use sadly the wood handle separated from the metal pointer.....will sink 2 thin screws deeper that should hold it....still love having this around...just soooo handy....

I purchased because of the 1-5 inch measurements in the ad and because of the high ratings. Not sure of the durability of the tool yet, but the markings are not as advertised. About a fourth of the way up from the top is the number 5, then 7.5, 10 and finally 12.5 at the top. I have not measured them yet and have no idea what those markings mean. On the fence about whether or not I’ll keep it since the initial presentation is based on deceit

I wish I had gotten one of these sooner. This dibble is built very well, and it's smooth to the touch so easy on the hands. It's very strong. This season I decided to do some intensive cardboard sheet mulch. When wet, the cardboard is easily pierced by this, then I can jostle it around to created a big enough hole for a seedling plant or seed (if I fill back a little soil to reduce the depth of the depression). It's also good for quick aeration of the soil in my raised bed where quack grass is rife. Love it!!!

I bought it because it had measurements. IT DOESN'T!!!! Depth matters when planting bulbs. If you need this for bulb planting buy something else!

My wife and I have used this took to plant hundreds of bulbs and even more bedding plants. It still looks brand new. We used the "lasagna" method to get a lot of the ground ready for the buns and it goes through an inch of wet paper very easy. This is extremely well made.
