Robust!! ...
Robust!! ...Super easy to install, the depth it goes to means it is very stable and secure in the ground. I used this for a rotary airer in the soil ground area of a garden.I am very impressed.

Seems to work better than a hammer-in spike
We bought a rotary dryer for our new house because there doesn't seem to be anywhere easy to put a washing line. I got a hammer-in spike for the dryer so we could put it in the lawn. Well, I hammered it in all the way, and put washing on the dryer, and within 10 minutes it was leaning like a drunkard. Within 30 minutes most of the washing was trailing on the floor, so it wasn't doing great...I decided to buy this based on other reviews, even though it's a bit more expensive. Well, it screwed into the ground easily. I screwed it in as far as I could until the screwing-bar was level with the ground (not sure if you're mean to screw it in that far, but I did). The spike comes with three screws and three bent bits of metal to hold the pole of whatever you're holding. A minor flaw was that the bent bits of metal will drop into the spike if you're not careful - I had to use a bit of bent wire-coathanger to get them out...But, once it was assembled properly, and the pole held firmly in place with the screws, it seems solid. We've only dried a couple of loads of washing on it so far, but it's still standing upright, so a definite improvement on the previous spike. It is quite sturdy metal, so it will handle small stones, but if your ground is extremely stony, it may not be the best thing to use, but in our case it seems to have done the job - so far.

Did the job required
Easy to get into the ground and keep reasonably vertical if you take a little care. The mechanism used to “fit a range of post widths” is a little fiddly and does not initially inspire confidence. However, it seems to be holding at the moment.. May need to review again in a year.

Strong base in high winds
We use this for our rotary dryer. It doesn’t need to be fully screwed in so that the edge is below ground level. We did that with the previous one and lost it in the grass. It is more frustrating for mowing, but at least this one won’t get lost when run over by a tractor.

the adjustment fitting a little flimsey

Does the job
I used ground spike for posts to hold up a sail canopy. The spike can be difficult to screw into stoney ground. I overcome this by first drilling a hole with an Auger drill bit.The spike is sturdy once screwed into the ground, and strong enough to support the sail.Pleased with my purchase, and would recommend.
