HarperCollins Pete the Cat: Five Little Bunnies

It basically 5 little monkeys jumping in a bed, but changed to bunnies for an Easter theme. My 2.5 y/o likes it well enough, but I’m bummed by the total lack of originality. Had I flipped through it before purchasing, I would not have bought it.

My year old grandson loves Pete’s adventures and so do we, but this book is not the best they have. It’s an EXACT retelling of the counting story of 5 little monkeys, 5 little pumpkins etc jumping on the bed, 1fell off and bumped their head etc. Drawings are cute, as Pete is, but not much to look at ;Pete and 5 bunnies and a doctor... ) and IMO the story is too simple to be worth the book $$. I doubt the book would be read more than once so I’m returning mine. Save the money and just do the rhyme and some tickles and antics with your child and it will be just as much fun. Use the money for aPete book like Pete and the cool caterpillar.

Bought this for my granddaughter and thought it would be a cute story about a cat. She is a total little cat person! Well, it ended up being mostly about bad little bunnies who jump on beds. Cute enough and she likes looking at Pete the Cat in the book but I wish there was an actual story there and not the rhyme about bunnies jumping on the bed.

My son loves Pete the Cat (the books and the cartoons). Based on previous books, I thought this would have an easter storyline/plot and not just changing the words to 5 little monkeys. My son read it quickly and wasn't interested in reading it again. Very unusual for this Pete the Cat fan.

I typically LOVE pete the cat books. I didn't realize this one was nearly a carbon copy of the monkeys on the bed. Not a story at all. They just switched some words from monkey to bunny. I guess okay for toddlers but that's about it!
