Impact Wrench Power
I actually bought this to occasionally remove the lug nuts from my Silverado to rotate the tires, make other repairs and bring along on road trips, should I get a flat and need a quick fix. Normally, an impact wrench is called for but this was a much cheaper option so I thought it was worth a try.To be honest, I wasn't optimistic it would work. My Silverado's lug nuts are torqued at 140 ft. lbs. This one is only rated at 1500 in. lbs. which equals 125 ft. lbs. I figured for $60, it was worth a shot. If it didn't work then I'd still have a great impact driver for normal uses. I slapped on a 4.0 ah battery, attached my 1/2 in. socket adapter and my 22mm impact socket, took a deep breath and thought, "this probably won't work" and placed it on the lug nut. In only 3 short, 2 second squeezes of the trigger, it zipped the lug nut right off. I couldn't believe it. I tried another just in case the other was loose. It did the same thing and then again with another. I thought I'd have to really hold it on there to fight it off but it was like it was made for it. This thing has some serious power. I even put them back on with the impact, then tightened them down with a torque wrench at 140 lbs. again to be sure this was happening and sure enough, they came off in a breeze. Incredible! This is a monster of an impact driver. I'm convinced that if this impact can do that, there isn't much it can't do.It's a basic style driver. No speed settings but easy to control with the variable speed trigger. Like many Makita power tools, it has very comfortable grip and is lightweight and easy to use. Even with the larger battery, I didn't strain at all. So far my experience with Makita power tools has been excellent. I'm very impressed with the quality. This one is also built well with a solid metal housing, no chuck wobble and nice rubber over molds. It's just a great tool.If you're already in the Makita platform, do yourself a favor and pick up this bad boy for this dirt cheap price. At $60, it's a steal. Even if you have an impact, get it anyway. This might become your new favorite. If you're not a Makita owner but are looking, this may be the best deal for an impact driver this good. Get this and a cheap Makita drill driver kit and use one of the batteries for this. It'll still be a great deal.Overall, if you couldn't tell already, I'm super impressed. More impressed than I've ever been with a power tool and I can't recommend it enough. I have no doubt it will serve me well for any reasonable task or project I can throw at it for years to come and it'll do the same for you. Just get it already.

Another excellent Makita tool which complements my driver
I bought this separate impact driver to match the relatively new Makita drill/driver in the same model "family" which all use the same battery. It has good power and torque for its size. It is lightweight and it small size lets me get in to smaller places and it is easy to use for longer because it is lighter. It is working very well so far. I would recommend it. I wish I had bought the set of a drill/driver and impact driver which is available. My drill/driver came with the expensive battery and charger and I am using the same for this impact gun.

Hard to Beat Makita
I love the usefulness of this uncomplicated little impact driver. I got my first one in a combo drill/driver/ battery/charger/ bag deal. The only problem was that I had to keep changing between a Phillips bit and a countersink, so I bought another driver. Problem solved. Seriously though, I’ve been using the first one for about five years now and have never had a bit of trouble with it. I know there are advanced models with multi range capability and I may try one someday, but this simple little brushless unit just keeps on working.

High quality = high price
It's a Makita, which means both high quality and high price. But because I've had an increasing need for an impact driver, I made the plunge and got the top of the line. It is well built, reliable and because of it having a brushless motor, it not only delivers a lot more power, but uses a lot less of the battery power in the process. If you have a lot of future need for an impact driver, this is what you want. Otherwise, if it is a rare occasion that you need one, you can get buy with a much cheaper model, which can be found on Amazon or at your local Harbor Freight.

GREAT TOOL BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN
I am a big fan of the Makita 18 volt system, the batteries last a long time, the chargers work great and I've never gotten a bad tool from them. This Makita impact driver is a wonderful tool. Some nuts are too hard to remove and you'll need a bigger gun for them, I use a corded electric impact driver for very difficult nuts. When using this tool you need to be careful not to over-tighten whatever it is you're working on. I was putting together a "Body Champ" weight lifting rack which is made from very heavy duty steel. This little Makita was easily able to over tighten the bolts and crush the metal in.This impact driver is very handy for working on my mini bikes, we have four of them on our farm. The tool works like a drill, you can switch it into either direction and it goes faster and hits harder the more you squeeze the trigger. I wish I'd bought one of these years ago. I don't use it every day but when I need it this thing is awesome and so handy because it's cordless.Good luck and happy workshop to all!

Hard to beat performance for the price
Had never had a hammer drill before. Won’t ever be without one again. For driving screws into wood and decking, this is game changing. It drives true and fast to allow you to move on knowing you buried the sucker! Great Makita quality as you would expect. For the price, lack of multiple speeds is something I don’t miss.
