I started carrying around a small, paper journal with me wherever I go some time over twenty years ago, and after all these years, I finally found my ideal journal!The cover really is leather, and considering the lack of care I’ve shown it, it likes great. The box it comes in makes it feel like you’ve spent money. The quality of the paper is high enough that gel pens don’t leak through to the other side. You can barely even see that the other side of the page has been written on without holding it up to the light!!I love that it’s refillable—as much as I enjoy my collection of retired journals, I look forward to not having to buy a brand new one that’s slightly different and slightly less good in some way.I love the clear zipper pocket where I can not only put a piece of paper but can also see it so I remember it’s there!I love the size, the elastic closure, the three different types of paper (lined, blank, and craft), the heft and feel of it. I love that it really looks quite good for having been kicking it around in my bottomless pocketbook for a couple months, where it’s done battle with pens, bottles, knitting, and all manner of electronics.The only cons:1. Pen Slot: I have not yet figured out ideal pen placement (to ensure that my pen is always with my journal), but I probably need to break out a mini-pen that I bought for previous journals.2. Place-mark: there’s no attached ribbon allowing you to easily find your place, but it will probably be easy to attach a bit of ribbon to the elastic closures that keep the notebooks in place.3. The Brass Plaque: I don’t like the “where there’s a will there’s a way” saying on it, you can’t pick other sayings, and I don’t have the means to clip the metal at the holes to remove it. So I keep it on the back of the journal. In the scheme of things, this is beyond not a big deal, but this journal is so awesome that it’s my biggest complaint.

I got the red passport sized journal and im obsessed. I customized mine by changing the cord and adding my own charm!Would buy again for myself and as a gift for a friend :)

This is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I was hoping it would be. The leather and paper appears to be high quality and the bag it comes in adds a little extra fanciness.If you were hoping to use the gift box it comes in though, think again. Amazon was kind enough to put the mailing label right on the box making it unusable.

I bought this for a gift for someone going on a special trip. It is packaged very nicely and is just a beautiful quality leather book with the ability to remove and add signatures ( paper bound sections). There are lined pages; unlined pages; heavy weight Kraft paper for scrapbooking souvenirs, and plastic holders for money, credit cards or bus passes. The signatures are bound by two heavy weight elastic cords with heavy weight quality charms on the end that hold the knot securely. The journal is bound with a worded charm on elastic. The leather is excellent quality. It comes with a card stock printed bookmark and a postcard as an additional bonus. I punched the bookmark and added a ribbon. It makes a very nice gift for someone going on a memorable trip. I will buy this again. I am impressed with the quality of the materials and workmanship.

Love this thing! Well made has room for three notebooks but I don’t care if the notebook comes out so i managed to shove a fourth one in there. One less star because the cover does get scratched very very easily (you could scratch it with your nail) because of the material but I don’t really care gives it character but beware of that if you’re expecting sleek leather. Overall love it I don’t think you’ll regret this purchase. Love the dark maroon color scratches to a lighter red. The 8 x 4 is the perfect size

Perfect size journal, the paper that comes with it is very good quality. Leather is also good quality. It does scratch easily, I used a tiny bit of leather conditioner on it and it helped out a lot. I use this journal daily! Added some decorations to mine and an additional notebook.

Bought this right before a study abroad trip. Has lasted me two years, in great condition. Survived backcountry trips, backpacking through Europe, plenty of house parties, and multiple moves. The pouch at the back can fit a surprising amount. The clear card holders fits enough cards for this to work as a wallet. It's size is unbeatable but it can be little hard to find refills that are in the same size. Other than that, this is perfect, and something I will keep with me for the rest of my life. Perfect for daily use, traveling or not, and my favorite thing I've ever bought.
