Solid wooden stick handling ball for off ice practice
Here is my review of the A&R Wood Stick Handling ball.I wasn't paid to say any of this, I actually bought one of these things.Description:The wooden ball is just that. It is similar to other "Swedish stickhandling balls" on the market. It's not anything amazing, it's a wooden ball. It's a good learning tool. :)Construction:The ball is just shy of a 2-inch (5.08cm) diameter and the construction is a solid piece of wood.Purpose:This is for hockey stickhandling drills. The size of the ball is to provide you with a lightweight solution as you get better and want to speed up your stick handling. For beginners, I'm my opinion it's a bit small. I would say that a 2.5' inch diameter ball would be a better solution. For anyone more advanced, although it might look small, it IS a good size.Final thoughts:GOOD: A&R offers a good off-ice solution for stick handling for a fair price. It's a good piece of practice equipment. I've included pictures to show you the size next to a puck, baseball, and a ping pong to give you an idea of what the actual size of this thing is. You can find similar solutions that can be had for a bit less money without the logo

this is perfect. Great way to learn stickhandling and the feel ...
As a new player starting out, this is perfect. Great way to learn stickhandling and the feel of the puck. Most importantly, you need to get used to keeping the ball rolling with your head up. This helps with safety and skill. A bunch of guys started when I did (about a month ago), I have noticed I have a considerable advantage puck handling compared to them, I attribute at least some of that to drilling with a ball like this.Pros:It works almost any most smooth surface. It's easy to set up drill courses (cones, dumbbells, chairs, etc). It's definitely worth the price.Cons:It's loud, don't expect to drill in the garage without whole house knowing. It could/should be heavier. This would produce a better puck-feel, and improve your hand strength. All and all, it's great, get a couple. A solid way to improve without paying an arm and a leg for the fancy bar-sets or pass return units.

great for practice
Great for stick handling practice. If you really want good practice, use it around a dog who likes to play with anything that rolls. Just don't let them chew it or run away with it. Could be a choking hazard in larger dogs. But seriously, keeping it from my dog while stick handling is as good a practice you can get. No body on the other team is as fast as a dog who wants a ball.

A classic stickhandling skill tool from A&R.
It's a classic stickhandling skill building tool, and I can't tell you how many of these wooden balls we've lost over the years. This one from A&R is a fine example, nice hard wood construction, solid & smooth. My kids spend 5-10 minutes a few times a week. They last forever, assuming they don't disappear..
