Wolverine: Sabretooth

Great art, not great story
I have come to expect more from Jeph Loeb, and was very disappointed with the story. I found the villain incredibly lacking in imagination, as well as the entire story for that matter. The art was phenomenal, though at times hard to follow.

Great story and artwork.
A strong storyline and fantastic artwork, Wolverine has been a favorite of mine for years and this book does not disappoint. Romulus and the concept of divergent evolution really sells a unique story as you get all of the feral fighters out and find out how their lives have been intertwined all this time.

Snikt!
Beautiful art, like looking at a tapestry. Story was a bit far fetched but still a fun read. A need to own for any Wolverine fan.

Blood, guts, and gnashing of teeth.
If I were reviewing this simply from the standpoint of the often times stunning artwork by Simone Bianchi then I'd be giving this a 4.5 star review. While Bianchi's finely detailed and even elegant art lends itself far better to splash pages than to four-plus paneled pages it is still a revelation and the variety of colorists have saturated his work with as if we were looking at fine oil paintings, works of art, hung on a gallery or museum wall. So there's that. Then there's the seemingly eternal story of the struggle that Wolverine has with his arch-nemesis, Sabretooth. In this case the story ties two arcs together (from Wolverine #50-55 and 310-313) in which a dogged Wolvie hunts down Creed with one thought: kill him once and for all. But that doesn't ever seem to work. Along the way we find another villain hidden in the shadows, someone who has been covertly orchestrating Wolverine's harsh life from behind the scenes for millennia. A cool twist in the story develops when Wolvie finds out that he and not a few other Marvel Universe feral characters were evolutionarially descended from wolves, not apes. That nice twist aside, and despite so many characters being given guest star appearances (like Cloak and Dagger; the Black Panther and Storm; Wild Child; Captain America; Cyclops and Emma Frost; Sasquatch, Wolfsbayne, Feral, and Thornn--you can't say that this doesn't work hard to give the fans some service) which is both cool and distracting at the same time, the story feels like one bloody endless struggle that is destined to be falsely resolved over and over and over again. For me this type of story gets a little wearisome. So all in all and despite its flaws I'll give this a 3.75 stars. The art elevates the story in this case, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Belle storie
