Heirloom Thinline Now Produced In China
I wish that I had noticed some of the recent 2020 reviews. The Heirloom Thinline Bibles by Crossway were previously produced by Jongbloed in The Netherlands. They are considered one of finest book binders in the business and are used by other very high end Bible publishers (Schuyler, RL Allan, Cambridge etc). This was a big selling point for me in purchasing the Heirloom line. Crossway has a “Premium Thinline” that is slightly larger, made of similar materials, but produced in China. They cost notably less than the Heirlooms. Quality was very good, but not to the same standard as the Jongbloed Bibles. At some point in the very recent past, Crossway has quietly shifted production of the Heirloom line (at least their Thinline Heirlooms) to the same house in China. Quality is very similar to the “Premium” line. That is to say “good” - but not to the same level as previously produced Jongbloed Heirlooms. Not what I thought I was paying extra for either. And I foolishly paid full retail of $199 on here in my excitement to enter the world of high-end, Old World craftsmanship Bibles. I see they are (at the date of this review) selling at a full $30 less than I paid. If they drop around the $120-$130 range they would be worth it. I don’t feel that I got full value for my money. This is made doubly worse by the fact that I bought two of these. One for me, and one to put up for when my son is older.I’ll not return them - I made the mistake I suppose.

Now Printed in China - Worse Quality
I own another Crossway Bible (the Omega Thinline), which was printed in the Netherlands. The Heirloom Thinline that I just received from Amazon was printed in China. The quality difference is noticeably worse. Very disappointing. I'd recommend buying the previously-produced Heirloom Thinlines second-hand, if possible. The Chinese-made one is not worth purchasing, in my opinion. I hope that Crossway reconsiders their decision.

Exceeded Expectations!
My previous (ESV) Bible was beginning to crack at the edges, and I decided I wanted something that would be of higher quality and would last. This Heirloom Bible is just what I wanted, and its lifetime guarantee gives me peace of mind that it'll last. I'm glad that I went with black, though I probably would have been just as happy with brown. As seen in the pictures I posted, the box the Bible came in was scuffed and dinged; I was relieved that the Bible was in perfect condition when I looked inside. Amazon simply slipped the box into a (slightly) padded shipping envelope with no further protection. 😬 I'll probably order from Christian Books next time.

Esv Bible quality 5/5 the Bible I revived 3/5
I was so excited when I receive the Bible , just to be clear the Bible gets a 5/5 Awesome quality I love them but the one I received gets a 3 , I paid $135 for this item and it didn’t seem to be in new condition, I don’t know if it came defective from the factory in China where they print them now or I received a used one, it had scratches on the outside of the pages and some strange glue inside and also a funky smell that triggered allergies “ I don’t know if it was just This Bible or all of them but just heads up for the people that are prone to allergies

very fine Bible at a great price
wow! breathtaking Bible. I had an heirloom ESV many years ago and it was a nice Bible but Crossway has truly used their game with these newer editions. This is a top notch Bible. The leather is very high quality the feel and look is better than any Bible I have ever had. You can smell the luxuriousness of it when you open the box. The paper is top quality as well. This Bible does not open flat however because it has some additional binding to make the spine extra durable. I actually prefer this because the Bible opens flat in most places. That extra strength in the spine will make this Bible last a lifetime. This is the perfect edition of the ESV. I think the only Bibles that would compete would be the R. L. Allan's and the Schuyler ESV.

It’s Worth It
Absolutely love this Bible and this translation, mostly everyone else has done an great/accurate job describing how beautiful this bible is to which I fully agree.I have used nothing but NASB since 2011 and I have switched over to ESV due to certain passages and scriptures not being translated thoroughly. I purchased this Bible because I didn’t want to keep spending $30 every year on a genuine leather Bible. This is a great bible

Beautiful Bible
This is a beautifully made Bible in every way. The brown goatskin is tougher than the Baptist's camel hair cloak and, I'm assuming, much nicer looking. I have grown to love and prefer the ESV so, while I didn't need another Bible, for my 67th birthday I splurged and bought an heirloom worthy of leaving to another when I leave this tent behind.

Great Bible
I really like this Bible, it's easy to tell that the quality justifies the price. The Goatskin cover is amazingly soft too and I was happy with the font size.Overall very happy.
