Good alternative for tight spaces
Had a slight hint of that wonderful rotten egg smell in my hot water so I knew it was time to change the anode rod. Didn't have enough room to use a solid rod so this was a nice alternative. Direct fit and got rid of the smell. Did need to cut out the plastic part at the threads and replace it with a new heat trap. Other that that slight inconvenience, was easy.

Good Replacement
Replaced our old rod with this ourselves and it was easy and works great.

Thumbs up
Functional, has a nice nipple to screw on and the segment makes it easy to install with limited headroom. I also remove it after 3 months and sure enough I saw the pitting on the rod which shows that it is working as it should.

No heat trap
This unit does not come with a heat trap. The one from the original Bradford White anode will not fit into the Water Connection water connection. I can feel that the output pipe is warmer above the tank now. There is a reason the manufacturer put them in there. I regret buying aftermarket. I would have returned it but I mangled the threads on the original during removal and need hot water today more than energy savings tomorrow.

Great replacement
If you plan on installing a new heat trap insert you won't be able to as is. I wanted to install a heat trap insert so I took a dremel and grinded down the plastic until the heat trap insert fit in snug. Otherwise it's a convenient replacement if you're limited on room.

Aluminum anode eliminates sulphur odor
Exactly right for our Bradford White water heater. Multi-part shaft makes it easy to install where there is not enough clearance above for a single piece rod. We had to replace our well pump and then had sulfur smell in hot water. I suppose stirring up the deposits on the well casing caused that. Replaced the old magnesium anode rod with this aluminum one as well as dosing the water heater with chlorine bleach took care of the problem. Photo shows the old rod, may have been original to the water heater (since 2004) since it was quite corroded (see photo of old magnesium rod).

Fits perfectly
It is very easy to install and fits perfectly. I hope that the aluminum-zinc anode rod would eliminate the rotten egg smell in the hot water heater. Keeping my finger crossed here, and if this does not solve the problem, I may have to go for the powered anode.7/31/2024.I celebrated too soon. The sulfur smell is back after two weeks, and I am back to square one. The aluminum-zinc does not work for me.8/7/2024“ PREVENTS UNPLEASANT SMELL IN HOT WATER - Eliminate the sulfur, rotten egg smell in your hot water caused by hydrogen sulfide and the reaction between the water and the magnesium anode rod, thanks to our high-quality aluminum-zinc anode rod.”A few back and forth messages with the seller, and that claim in is not entirely correct. In my case, the magnesium anode was removed, hot water tank was sanitized, and sulfur odor returned shortly. So this is not a solution for all cases and clarification should be in the description.

Anode for hard water. Hot water tank.
Aluminum anode are used in your hot water tank if you live on an acreage with hard hard water. The one piece solid aluminum ones are are to find and are over $150.00 can. I purchased two of these and still saved $$$

Great for small spaces
Great reviews from our plumber who installed it. Such a great idea to have it collapsible for ease of low roofs and small furnace rooms. Works great

it’s Aluminum not magnesium. So ater but still works on city water just not as well as magnesium
Showed up within 2 days, I unfortunately own a water heater that has the anode connected to the hot water nipple instead of the easy to change ones that use a 1 1/16” nut. I didn’t need the flexible one but it worked fine. But if you have a height restriction this one would be a must have .
