Britannia Series 3 [DVD] [2021]

Can we start with the music? Brittania started season 1 with absolutely horrific music. In season 2, it got worse, and season 3 continues the trend. I can tell you the name of the movie by listening to the soundtrack because when done well, the music is a seamless part of the journey. It calls to mind the pictures, feelings, and story. Not so with this. The music is a jarring break from everything that interrupts the flow in a terrible way.The purple, pink, and yellow segues from scene to scene are also horrible and disrupt the flow.The story is in some ways brilliant. It mimics the unpredictable arc of mythology. It keeps you guessing. It shows how many people think they are chosen for greatness and end up being squashed like bugs. But it's so uneven.Hemple starts out entertaining, but then just devolves into a caricature. Is she infallible and omniscient or not?Aulis starts out as a bad ass and then turns into a crazy wimp, then back again.Who knows what Drella's story is.And what happened to the Veran?The last two minutes of the show is too big a jump - especially when season 3 was supposed to be - and maybe is - the last one. I get it, but the pacing is all wrong.The things I love about the show made it worth the time it took to watch it and the price, but the things that don't work are on the edge of ruining it. I suggest that, if there is a 4th season to tie up loose ends, the writers really severely cut the things that they love that aren't working. Really. It's about time.

Season 1&2 were very entertaining. But alas, like most content these days, season 3 has gone the woke route. Unfortunately, the showrunners insistence on playing identity politics has thrust the main characters into reduced roles. Sophie Okonedo is just awful, I mean cringe worthy awful. I'm not sure if she was just trying to act like a crazy person, but it didn't come off well.Nikolaj Lie Kaas, my favorite character in the series, hardly gets any screen time. I mean, his interaction with Eleanor Worthington-Cox was one of the best things about the first 2 seasons. Not here.The main story line seems to have been abandoned as well. I have no idea what the heck is going on any more. Just buy season 1&2, and pretend season 3 never happened.

nowhere near as entertaining as the first 2 series. Its just atypical of new stuff these days, more violence and depravity but no real personality. It does have a lot more political correct diversity, so thats probably a good thing (it isnt but im not allowed say that). A poor series, considering the superb stuff in series 1 and 2. I shall await part B with a little less gusto than i had before i received 3A.

Series 1 and 2 were very good. Series 3 seems to be a seqence of horrific brutal events pure for the sake of brutality. Most of it doesn't add anything to the story.The language in this series has also deteriated. Seems to be one swear word after another. Writers need to get their facts right. The 'f' word did not come into use until the 16th century.Writers seem to have lost the plot.... Storyline is all but disappeared. And the ending? Spoiler alert. There isn't one.No doubt this was done to facilitate a 4th series but I will not be buying it.Some people have compared it to Game of Thrones. It is not even in the same league.

As expected more ancient silliness. The one star reviews for absence of shrink wrap need to get a life. This has been common in the EU for some time now-excess plastic njust what we need.

A word of caution here - I paid for a NEW item here. That would imply it arrived sealed and unopened, However, it is clear that this was pre-owned as the DVD case was not secure and not sealed.Addendum: I thoroughly enjoyed the series but what I was sold was clearly a recording made from TV showing - vey disappointed and will not buy again from this Amazon retailer.

After having watch the first and second series a number of times, I had expected something of a similar quality from the third. I was wrong. I'm not sure if it was the change in chemistry between the actors, the director, the producer or what, but this series has, quite literally, lost its magic. Thank god for the Veran, at least he was still up to it.
